Using Pink on a Dad Layout

Hey, friends!  Missy here, and I have a new layout to share using the 2016 June Hip Kits.  The gorgeousness continues this month with lots of exclusives, and this layout was inspired by that beautiful 4×6 Project Life card designed by Kim Watson.  This week we’re focusing on Dads, and these photos are of my husband and our girls in the pool.  I created a photo strip and placed it so the arrows were pointing towards it.  I attached it and then added lots of gesso in preparation for all the Shimmerz to come.  I love pink, and I used a lot of it even though this is a page about a Dad.  I used a lot of water and the two Shimmerz from the Color Kit to create that watercolor look.
It's What He Does
I decided on this as my title because plain and simple, it’s the truth.  Being a great dad IS what he does.  All the time.  I used the Simple Stories alphas and the Jillibean Soup alphas from the Embellishment Kit to create my title and added in a Heidi Swapp chipboard sticker.  I journaled right on top of the Shimmerz after it dried.

This Jillbean Soup frame was perfect to tuck my photo strip into.  I used an orange gelato and some Shimmerz to give it some color, and then I stitched through it.  I made this layout more “manly” by adding in some navy blue 🙂

Isn’t this exclusive puffy sticker from the Embellishment Kit the cutest?  It’s the perfect color to match my photos, and I added more pink behind it to make it contrast.  The green thread under it is another nice contrast.  I added that cute Becky Higgins camera die cut and the Simple Stories brad.  That fun arrow is one of Kim Watson’s exclusive die cuts.

More color goodness here.  This is Simple Stories, Maggie Holmes and Becky Higgins all mixed together.  Those Maggie rubber pieces are the coolest!

I added a little more color here at the bottom with a strip of blue from a PL card, a few exclusive pieces, a sticker and a fun brad.  The pink thread completes all the colors I used on the page.

Here’s my process video if you’d like to check it out…I hope it inspires you!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
