So happy together | Anna Komenda

Hello Hip Kit fans. It’s Anna here with some new layout created with July 2016 Hip Kits.

First I want to tell You a little about what I do when my mojo is low. It’s one of my few methods and it can be used with kits or paper collections. I just pick one or two colors that are present in the kit / collection and I choose every single element that fits my color scheme. I run through papers, ephemera packs, stickers and I group everything in one place.

1

This is what I did with July kits. First – I chose this gorgeous ombre blue exclusive paper designed by Kim Watson. I really liked it and wanted to use but I didn’t have any particular plan. I checked exclusive ephemeras pack from Main Kit and Embellishment Kit looking for some blue / white elements. I put them in one place. Later I decided that I will add a little bit of silver by using Freckled Fawn puffy metallic stickers.

When I decided of a color palette I walked through my printed photos (I always print more pictures to use in future projects) I chose two that matched my paper. White Bella Blvd. chipboard stickers were also a perfect match with my photos and other stuff.

I wanted to add some subtile detail to the background so I took a vellum sheet from Cardstock Kit and cut heart background using  July “I heart this” cut file designed by Ashley Horton. Teal glitter was some stronger, eye catching accent that I decided to add too. “Fancy free” wooden elements were covered with teal glitter so I used them in my composition.

Project Life “High five” little chipboards were like cherry on the top for my layout. You can find them in Project Life Kit.

And that’s all. Really fast and simple, even when Your mojo is low. I encourage You to try this “go monochromatic” method to high up You mojo and strech Your kits.

Sweet dreams | Anna

Hello. It’s Anna here. Today I want to show You layout created with April 2016 kits.

When I received my april kits I thought that they would be perfect for scrapping some sleepy pictures. I was inspired by the stars and other “night” themes from Shimelle “Starshine” collection and exclusive paper designed by Kim Watson. I even had a perfect star cutfile to work with. All I was missing was a perfect picture.

I had this cute photo session of my newborn daughter Maja. I just had to choose one cute picture and turn it to black and white because I didn’t want to bring additional colors to my page and Maja was sleepeing on a vivid green blanket.

1

I wanted to create a night sky on my page so I decided to paint it by my own. I used a watercolors and a lot of water and I painted the Moon (or something similar 😉 )and the starry sky. When everything was dry I started to embelish my page.

DSC_9092

First I created a composition behing my photo. I used a blue tissue-paper, that my kits were wrapped in. I added a piece of exclusive paper from Main Kit and stars cutted with Cameo. I also used few “Star shine” transparent stickers from Embellishment Kit.

DSC_9096

Big “awesome” word it one of the Pinkfresh Studio acetate words from Main Kit. I used an alcoholic ink to paint it in some dark navy color.

DSC_9094

“Star shine” paper clip and  word stickers from Project Life Kit were like a final touch to my page.

DSC_9085

As You can see You do not need much to create a rich page.

If You are curious how I created this page or You would like to create a similar one, I have a process video for You too 🙂

That’s all for today. See You next week on Facebook.

xoxo Anna

Hello hello! I am always excited to kick off the weekend on the blog and I am here today to share another page with the February Hip Kits! I loved this particular kit(s) so much, I was inpsired to keep creating with it!

I used Ashley’s cut file for February for this page:

Tween.jpg

I love using a large background cut file for my page as I near the end of a kit. I am able to use up a lot of my bits and pieces I have left over from other projects! It is also a great way to bring the colors and patterns in the kits together.

I always sneak the PL add-on into my pizza box each month and although I don’t scrap PL style, I always find a way to sneak some of the exclusive PL cards onto a project or two. This month, I used one of the card as a base for my title.

I have one last February kit project to share on Facebook next weekend, but after that it is all March baby! Can’t wait to dive in 🙂

The Best Ever | Nicole Nowosad

Hello hello!! I hope you are enjoying a happy weekend and getting some crafting in ! I just received my January kit the other day, so today I have one last December kit share with you today.

I was lucky enough to take a trip to CHA a few weeks ago and truthfully, I go there to see my friends (ssh, don’t tell my husband). It is so special to have created friendships through this hobby and CHA is a perfect excuse to meet up.

The Best Ever

We took this quick selfie one day at the show and I wanted to save that memory so I chose it for this page. I used Ashley’s sketch as a starting point for this page – was inspired by all the blocks for photos and instead, used some of the frames in the kits backed with pretty patterned papers. I love the fun word sentiments and layering some of the diecuts, rubons and enamel dots around those frames.

The Best Ever cl2

I used some scraps for this page too, waste not, want not! I used a scrap of that pretty yellow floral paper for the background and even a leftover diecut piece of pink cardstock layered to my background. I finished off the page by trimming out one of the frames from the patterned paper from the kit and added some watercoloring along the edges and over the words to create a title area.

The Best Ever cl1

Super simple and fun! I hope you are enjoying your December kits and are currently diving into January’s too!

Shine Darling | Ashley Horton

I’ve had my eye on the Glimmer Acetate Sheet in the December 2015 Paper Add-On Kit, and I just had to use it on my layout this week!  I still have so many goodies from the December 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, so I thought it would be fun to layer the acetate sheet over the December cut file, and then add my photo and some embellishments over the acetate sheet.

Shine Darling

I cut the Heart Strings cut file from the Divine patterned paper included in the December 2015 Main Kit.  I liked the ombre effect of the wood grain fading into the light melon Pink color.  Once the cut file finished cutting, I placed it over a sheet of White cardstock from the December 2015 Cardstock Kit.  Next I placed the Glimmer acetate sheet over the die cut hearts and stitched around the outside edges to attach it to the back ground cardstock.

Shine Darling1

For the top layer of the layout, I added my photo and the Best Day Ever wood veneer from Main Kit, to the center of the layout.  I wanted to have several different dimensions, so I embellished with Chipboard pieces from the Main Kit and Bits from the December 2015 Embellishment Kit.

Shine Darling2

I completed my layout by adding a title, using the Beautiful Phrase Thickers from the Main Kit.  I also placed a few of the Gold Thickers around the layout to balance out my design.

If you haven’t had a chance to pick up the December cut files, make sure you visit the Hip Kit Club website!  You can download our Free cut files by signing up for an account on the website!

Seriously Cheeky | Ashley Horton

It’s time to share a new layout with the December 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  I thought it would be fun to use some of the products in the December Color Add-On Kit for my layout.  I started out, by coloring the Heidi Swapp Watercolor Words with the Shimmerz Golden Wheat paint.  I just dipped the tip of my finger into the Shimmerz paint and added it to the Watercolor Words, then I set them aside to dry, while I worked on the rest of my layout.

Seriously Cheeky

I chose the Maggie Holmes frame paper for my background.  I just love all of those cute frames.  Lots of room for adding patterned paper and embellishments!  I used the Maggie Holmes 6×6 Paper Pad included in the December 2015 Embellishment Kit to cut several patterns that I could add to some of the frames.  Then I stitched around 4 of the frames, that had pre-printed phrases, with different colored embroidery floss.

Seriously Cheeky1

By this time, the Heidi Swapp Watercolor Words were dry, and I used “Seriously” and “Cheeky” for my title.  Then I placed “Shine” and “Beautiful” around the layout to create a visual triangle.  This helps draw the eye around the layout and down to my photo, which I added to one of the bottom frames.  I finished the layout by adding some of the Maggie Holmes Chipboard and Wood Veneer pieces from the December 2015 Main Kit.

Seriously Cheeky2

I can’t wait to work on some more layouts this month, with the December Kit!  There’s so much included, I just want to use all of it!  And if the December Kits aren’t fabulous enough, now we’ve got the January 2015 Kits to look forward to!  They were revealed on the Hip Kit Club Website yesterday, so make sure you stop by to check them out!  You won’t be disappointed!

Wonderful | Ashley Horton

I’m back on the Blog today with a new Christmas layout, using the November 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  I love creating a diagonal design, and the diagonal striped paper from Pinkfresh Studio in the November Main Kit worked great for the idea I had for this layout.  I used it to create a large diagonal title on my layout, using a mix of Thickers and letter stickers from the November Embellishment Kit and the Main Kit.

Wonderful

I started by placing my photo, to get a feel for where I wanted the title to go.  Then I started at the top left hand corner and placed the Maggie Holmes Thickers, then added the October Afternoon letter stickers and Pinkfresh Studio puffy alphas.  I also wanted the title to have a large element, so I cut the word Wonderful from one of the custom patterned papers in this month’s Kit, designed by Kim Watson.

Wonderful1

Once the letters were cut, I added them on the right hand side of the layout and finished the title with the coordinating alphas from the beginning of the title.  Before adding embellishments, I decided to add machine stitching to the die cut letters, to add some texture to the layout.  Then I started adding a mix of embellishments from the November Kits.  I mixed in some of the Wood Veneers, Puffy Stickers, enamel dots, and Pinkfresh Studio Bits.  I also wanted a little more sparkle on the layout, so I splattered some of the Gold Color Shine included in the November 2015 Color Kit.

Wonderful2

I hope this layout brings a little Christmas cheer your way!  And if you’re looking to make the holidays even merrier, stop by the Hip Kit Club website and sign up for a new Subscription!  A new Kit arriving on your doorstep each month, makes it feel like Christmas all year long!!

We Believe | Ashley Horton

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, especially if you’re using all of the amazing goodies in the November 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  We’ve also got a lot of extra inspiration for you this month, with cut files, printables, a sketch and our November Mood Board.  The layout I’m sharing today, was inspired by the November Mood Board, and I used the Under the Tree background cut file.

We Believe

11230662_10153797338922566_5039998544359078853_o

I started my layout with a piece of White cardstock from the November Cardstock Add-On Kit.  I wanted it as my background, to make the Christmas trees really stand out.  I ungrouped the cut file in Silhouette Studio, and clicked no cut on the smaller trees.  Then I sent the other tree images to the Cameo, and used the Silver sketch pen to draw the Christmas trees.  I repeated the process and switched the smaller trees back to cut and the triangle shaped trees to no cut, and then sent the cut job to the Cameo and cut the trees from one of the exclusive patterned papers, designed by Kim Watson.

We Believe1

Under the Tree

Once the trees finished cutting, I laid the patterned paper over my White cardstock and used the negative spots to add the die cut trees back in place.  Then I got to work on the string art trees, which were inspired by the stitched deer on the November Mood Board.  I used my paper piercer to poke holes along the sketched trees and then stitched each one a different color, using 5 colors of embroidery floss.

We Believe2

I didn’t want to over embellish and cover a lot of the background, so I layered my title close to the photo.  Then I used some of the Pinkfresh Studio die cuts from the November Main Kit to embellish the layout.  And you will notice, I created a visual triangle, with the design, by adding three different clusters on the page.  I love the top cluster with the cute flair button, designed by Kim Watson, from the November 2015 Embellishment Kit!

There’s still lots of Christmas cheer coming your way!  And speaking of Christmas, now would be a great time to mention a Hip Kit Club Subscription to Santa!  You’ll definitely want it on your wish list, after you pop over to the website and take a look at the new December 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  It’s so awesome, Santa might even keep it for himself!

Hello Fall | Ashley Horton

Give me some Fall themed papers/embellishments, photos and cut files and I am a very happy scrapper!  I am still going strong with the October 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  For today’s layout, I wanted to incorporate some of the Hip Kit Club cut files, and used the background cut file I created and some of the cute leaves from one of Kim Watson’s cut files!

Hello Fall

I started by cutting the background cut file from White card stock from the October 2105 Cardstock Add-On.  Then I layered it over one of the Amy Tangerine patterned papers.  Before machine stitching, I cut some of the background words from one of the Jen Hadfield papers and then placed them in the negative spots.  I really liked the mix of typography this added in the background.

Hello Fall1

Once I had the background completed, I added my photo and started layering embellishments from the October 2015 Main Kit, October 2015 Embellishment Kit and the October 2015 Project Life Kit.  I wanted to keep my photo and embellishments clustered in the center of the layout, to keep from covering a lot of the background work.

Hello Fall2

I wanted to also incorporate some of the other cut files, included with this month’s Kits.  I separated one of the leaf shapes from the fun Fall wreath cut file, created by Kim Watson.  Then I cut them from two different colors of card stock, included in the October 2015 Cardstock Add-On Kit.  Once the leaves were cut, I ran them through my sewing machine, to get a bit of added texture.

I’ve still got more in store, using the October 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, so make sure you keep checking in on the Blog and Facebook page!  And we’ve got some awesome Kits coming up!  Make sure you head over to the Hip Kit Website to check out the November Hip Kit & Add-On Kits and keep an eye out for the upcoming December Daily Kit!
