TUESDAY WITH KALI…

Hi everyone!  It’s Kali here with you today sharing a couple more projects created with our July Hip Kits.  My first project is a layout that is divided into 3 equal parts. I decided that I wanted to build my layout from the center strip.  I knew that I wanted to put my title at the bottom of my page with my photo and other embellishments towards the top.  I added dimensional adhesive under the lower part of my photo to bring a little volume and and create balance with the chipboard.  I love the way my page turned out!  I hope that perhaps you might want to give this type of design a try when you create your next layout.

My second project is a card with soft colors that was also created using our July Hip Kits. Once again I used the Crate Paper Open Road chipboard frames!  They add awesome texture and dimension to any project.  I continued with dimensional embellishments (chipboard shapes, Thickers and enamel dots).  Then I finished off my card with some splatters of the Heidi Swapp Sweet Cherry Color Shine.  I hope you like it.  I will see you again next Tuesday with more Hip Kit projects!  Have a great week.  xo – Kali

SUNDAY WITH KATE…

Hey y’all, Kate Kennedy here with another project using our July 2014 Hip Kit. For this layout I started with some 12×12 watercolor card stock. It is not a white, white but more creamy so it went perfectly with the October Afternoon papers in this kit. I used my watercolor set to create a frame around the focal point. A few embellishments and a title and this layout came together really quickly for me. To see all the details and step by step process be sure to check out the process video below. Thanks so much for stopping by and I will see y’all next Sunday for another fun project.

FRIDAY WITH MANDY…

Hey Hipster’s! Mandy back with a new layout and card that I created with our July 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits…  But there’s a twist and it may have you thinking I’ve seen that before haven’t I?  Well…. Let me explain the story about how this layout came together.  I decided I would be using some scraps from previous projects and I would use this photo of Mo giving me of of his sloppy kisses.  Once I had things pushed around and where I wanted it I started questioning if I had used the photo previously?  I thought perhaps that I had.  Was it another project I sent off recently?  It wasn’t a Hip Kit layout was it?  Nah it couldn’t have been,  Then I uploaded my post and there the photo was on a layout from last month!  Can you say DOH!?!  Goodness, I’m loosing my mind.  Here’s the twist, if you go back and compare this layout to that one it makes a totally different impression on you because they have a totally different look, a different style, a different feel even though both are about my silly little gremlin Mo.  I love how all the little bits and pieces fell into place on this layout like the wordfetti stickers from Theresa Collins,  and her amazing chipboard that was the perfect layer behind my photo.  To make my larger Thicker title pop off the layout a little more, I outlined the alphas with a black pen. The colors of the July kit are totally inspiring with the bright colors along with the neutrals it all brings my black and white photo to life.

Another fun, simple, quick Mandy card. To create this card I fussy cut the speech bubbles from the October Afternoon Snapshot pattern paper and simply layered them onto a couple of coordinating papers that I used for the base of my card.  Then I finished it off by Adding a simple Congrats sentiment & it was done and ready to send off.

Thanks for joining me today. I challenge you to create something with a twist… scrap a photo you’ve already scrapped see where it takes you, or create a project using the same set of products and see what happens.  We would love to see the result… you can share your projects on our Hip Kit Club Facebook page!!!  I can’t wait to see what you create!  Have a good one! xo MK

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT… MARINETTE LESNE…

Today I am sharing a layout created by our Hip Kit Club member, Marinette Lesne using our July Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  I love the color scheme that she chose for her page.  I think the blue and green are so fresh & perfect for this page documenting her son.  I also love all of the layering and little details that she includes on her project – all of which draw your eye directly to the photo.  Notice how she didn’t cut down her photo to fit behind the chipboard frame.  She used the frame to draw your attention to her son, and leaving the photo full size gave balance to her page. I hope you are feeling inspired to pull out your July Hip Kits and create something wonderful.  Have a scrappy day!  xo – Kimberly – Explore LO 1

WEDNESDAY WITH ASHLEY H…

I love to create big, bold titles on my layouts as a part of the page design! So the alpha options in our July 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits are right up my alley. Did you know, that you have FIVE alpha options in this month’s Kit??!! The October Afternoon alphas include two styles, you also have Printshop and Typewriter Thickers from American Crafts, and an alpha and labels sticker sheet from Teresa Collins! I mixed letters from each of the alpha sets in with some of the October Afternoon Daily Flash embellishments to create a fun, graphic title on my layout!

Today I did something a little different with my card, by creating a shaped card! I found a cute banner design in the Silhouette store, and cut it on my Cameo. The card was already sized to 4.25×11, so all I needed to do, was fold it in half, once it was cut. I added some layers using one of the Crate Paper Open Road frames and some of the chipboard embellishments from the Teresa Collins chipboard pack. And I love the little chipboard banner pieces…they fit right in, with my banner shaped card!  I hope you like it!  Have a great week & I will see your next Wednesday with more great projects creating with our Hip Kits!  xo – Ashley H –

TUESDAY WITH KALI…

Hello!  It’s Kali here with you today sharing two projects that I created with our July 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  For my layout, I decided to work on white cardstock matted onto the “b-side” of the  Basic Grey Carrot Paper.  The red border gives my page a pop of color.  My photo is surrounded by two squares from the October Afternoon cut apart sheet.  (I love this paper!)  Next, I began layering my embellishments around the focal point of my layout.  I added a bit of sewing and some Heidi Swapp Color Shine mist splatters to finish it off.  I hope you like it!

My second project for this week is a feminine card  that was also created using our July Hip Kits.  One of my favorite things in this month’s kit are the Crate Paper Open Road chipboard frames.  So, I decided to used one of them on my card. This frame creates the perfect place for me  to add the sentiment to my card as well as to cluster my embellishments.

MONDAY WITH EMILY…

Thanks for joining me for Hip Kit Monday! Today I have created a fun and simple layout documenting two of my younger brothers using the goodies included in our July 2014 Hip Kits. It is crazy how fast our younger family members grow up! Documenting theses old photos was definitely a wake up call for me on how much they really have grown. Before I even choose my photos I knew I wanted to create a custom silhouette cut file that would allow the watercolored background paper to show.  First, I painted the Teresa Collins woodgrain patterned paper with bright watercolors.  Then I cut my arrow pattern out of white cardstock using my Silhouette.  I layered the die cut cardstock over the watercolored paper.  I think that this pattern really draws your eye to the center of the layout. Next, I added the photos of my younger brothers with the fun Polaroid frames to help their photos really stand out. To finish my page I added some of the chipboard pieces from October Afternoon and some from Teresa Collins  as well as a few enamel dots. I hope you all enjoyed todays layout!!!

SUNDAY WITH KATE…

Hey y’all, Kate Kennedy here sharing a layout using our July 2014 Hip Kits. I have to be honest this layout is not my favorite, which, makes me frustrated because I used some of my favorite products from the kit on it.  Here’s what happened …. I was totally inspired by the October Afternoon cut apart sheet and loving the idea of layering those squares on the left side of the layout. And I love how that turned out, where things went sideways was when the mist I used dried pink. It is a beautiful color but just not what I wanted for this project. To see all the details check out the video. Does mist or ink or paint ever turn an otherwise awesome project into something you don’t love? How do you fix it, or do you even fix it? I would love to know your thoughts!
