Nobody Photobombs Me! | Irit Landgraf

Hi! Irit here with a new layout I created using the gorgeous February kits. I used lots of the goodies from Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection.

Here’s my layout-

I have created a bunch of embellishment clusters before hand, so making this project took no time at all.

Using Rub-Ons and Documenting January 2017 | Adrienne Alvis

Hello, Hip Kit Club fans! It’s Friday and I have two projects to share with you as we head into the weekend!

First up, I have my Project Life spread for January 2017 that I created using items from the January 2017 Project Life Kit

I’m going to continue to use a 9×12 album for my spreads this year and I’m also sticking to a monthly documenting schedule. I printed my photos off from my home computer and placed them in the various 3×4 slots to begin my process.

I used several of the HKC exclusive Project Life cards from the January 2017 Project Life Kit and layered a few of the 1 Canoe 2 Hazelwood Gold Foiled Icon stickers on a few of my photos to add some dimension without adding a lot of bulk to the pockets.

I also layered a few of the Pink Paislee Moonstruck ephemera pieces (available in the January 2017 Main Kit) on a couple of the journaling cards and layered some puffy stickers on top of them. I really love the colors of the journaling cards this month, don’t you?

I kept the right side of my spread cohesive with the left by using the same color scheme and by placing my embellishments on the journaling cards in a visually balanced design.

And here’s a look at my full spread for January 2017…

Next up, I have a layout that I created using the January 2017 Hip Kits to share…

I was really inspired by the lovely butterfly rub-ons from 1 Canoe 2, but I wanted them to look more dimensional on my layout so I placed them on a piece of vellum and fussy-cut them out. I also carefully bent their wings up a bit so they would look as if they were fluttering across my page.

I also used the 6×6 stencil from Carta Bella and the Heidi Swapp Metallic Texture Paste in Teal from the January 2017 Color Kit to create the houndstooth design on the background patterned paper from 1 Canoe 2.

I layered lots of the ephemera pieces from the Pink Paislee Moonstruck collection around my photo and placed several of the 1 Canoe 2 Hazelwood Printed Cork Shape pieces (available in the January 2017 Project Life Kit) on my page for a little color and texture contrast.

Be sure and check out the process video for this layout below…

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you have a great weekend!

“My shelter” – Layout with some layering

Hello! It’s Justyna here today and I wanted to show you a layout I made recently with December 2016 kits. The photo is from Christmas Eve and it’s my grandma there. I had no idea she will be so good at selfies 😀

I used December Embellishment Kit, December PL Kit and December Main Kit. I cut out those wonderful windows and little houses from the Pink Paislee paper.

I made some layers to emphasize that cute frame (and of course the photo) from the die cuts pack (from Pink Paislee as well).

There are quite a lot of stripes of paper but I decided it would be better if I hide some under the white stripes so as to not to distract attention with too much color, because, as you can see, there’s plenty of it 😀

I really hope you like it! Have a wonderful week!

Using Large Photos and a Project Life Spread! | Adrienne Alvis

Hello Hip Kit Club fans! Grab a cup of coffee or some tea and get comfy because I’m here with not one, but TWO projects to share with you today that I created using the gorgeous September 2016 Hip Kits! First up, I have a layout that I created using a super-sized photo…

I rarely ever scrap a photo larger than 3×4, but since my challenge was to “supersize it”, I decided to go big or go home with a 5×7 photo of our campsite that I took this past summer. Since my photo was scenic, I decided to position it near the bottom of the layout and layer my title and lots of embellishments around it to help draw the eye down my page.

I used a combination of the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Gather collection Thickers (available in the September 2016 Embellishment Kit) with one of the chipboard stickers from the same collection that are available in the September 2016 Main Kit for my title. I placed part of it on and above my large photo so it would look more cohesive with all of the other layers on my page.

I added lots of dimension and texture to my page by layering many of the Gather ephemera pieces from Crate Paper, along with some of the Simple Stories Posh Bits & Pieces that are available in the September 2016 Project Life Kit, along the side edges of my photo and up towards the top of my layout. I also added various pieces of patterned paper from the September 2016 Paper Kit so I could add more color and patterns to my page. I also placed several of the Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills Wood Veneer Paper Clips in the layers of ephemera as well for even more added texture and color.

I really love how this page turned out and how well the larger photo looks with the big title and pretty embellishments from the September Kits!

Next up, I have my Project Life spread for September 2016 to share with you…

I used many items from the September 2016 Project Life Kit to complete this month’s spread such as the HKC exclusive PL cards, the Dear Lizzy Saturday Wood Veneer Words, and the Simple Stories Posh Enamel Dots.

I also used some of the Simple Stories Posh Bits & Pieces from the PL Kit to accent several of the exclusive PL cards. I just love how well the colors from the PL cards coordinate with the other items and embellishments in the kit!

I now use a 9×12 album for my Project Life spreads and I document them by the month instead of weekly, so I like to keep everything as cohesive and flowing as possible. The Hip Kit Club PL kits are always so helpful in doing this because everything coordinates so well.

I added several of the Maggie Holmes Gather Gold Phrase Stickers (available in the September 2016 Embellishment Kit) on top of my photos to bring out the golden color in my color scheme and to accent my journaling which I typed directly onto my photos.

Well, I hope I’ve given you LOTS of inspiration on how to use your September 2016 Hip Kits today! Be sure and check out the HKC Facebook page and member forum for even more inspiration using the kits!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Let’s Plan Your Day!

Hi, it’s Cara and I want to talk a bit about planning, but it may not be what you are expecting. 😉

I think that a lot of people pride themselves in being busy. Being able to list off all the things we need to do, or a long list of things that we were able to cross off on any given day is like earning some kind of busy badge or medal of honour.

But, I want to you to think about adding some white space to your day, today. Not only in the design of your page, but actually in your schedule. If you are anything like me, you are forever trying to fit in just one more task or one more errand before an appointment or pick up time for your kids. I usually end up late, or stressed that I’m going to be late, and both of those make me cranky! What a way to greet my children right? 😛

When I take the time to add in white space, a mid morning cuppa, leaving the house with lots of time to walk to the bus, or get the errands done, I’m a much calmer person.

We tend to overestimate what we can get done in a day. So I am challenging to try and not jam pack your day with a million tasks and obligations. Give yourself some breathing room. Work it into your design. Leave literal white space on your planner page, which can, not only be white spots that are left blank, but also stickers or die cuts or anything else on your page that makes you smile.

On my page for today, I not only left space around each of my plans, I also added lots of goodies from my HKC August kits. Especially die cuts (both the Exclusive Ephemera, designed by Claudia Van Rooijen from the embellishment kit and the Amy Tangerine die cuts from the main kit). It all started with that awesome, giraffe by the way! There is a bow clip from the Crate Paper small embellishment pack from the Main August Kit. I added the black foil stickers from Dear Lizzy from the embellishment kit.

I love the ‘a million tiny things’ sticker. This little guy packs a punch and has quite a few jobs on this page, and his friend ‘Life is now’ lends a helping hand. First, it’s pointing out all the small tasks that I need to get done today, my task list. But also, paired with the large giraffe, it’s a hint to me to look at those little everyday moments as more than just things to cross off of my list. Those little things are what make up life. For me, it’s not so much the birthdays and vacations, but being with my family and shaping my children and myself with this daily activities. I love my memories of the children stealing food as I cook it, and playfully batting away their hands with my spoon, or an older child explaining life to a younger one. Or even just being able to give my mind some white space as I do the dishes or the laundry, monotonous tasks that allow my mind to wander and dream.

This quote also reminds me to watch out for these tiny little things. Keep my eyes and ears open for those moments so that I can stash those away in my memories to pull out later when the children are fighting…again.

Next up is this funky exclamation point clip. It comes from the American Crafts Thickers by Dear Lizzy in the main kit. I just hot glued it to a paper clip, cutting out matching pieces for the backs. I was careful to only glue the dot bit to the inside part of the clip so that  the clip was still functional  in my planner.

This last project is a little out of my comfort zone, I’m not a big card maker, but I will make them when occasion calls.

From the August paper kit, I used white cardstock for the base of the card and layered vellum, the Saturday ‘Metro’ paper from Dear Lizzy and the ‘Cheery’ paper from Crate pepr’s Cute Girl line. I fussy cut some flowers from the ‘Central Park’ paper (also from Dear Lizzy). I dug into my Project Life kit to finish off the cards and used my favourites products, the enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye, the wood shapers from Dear Lizzy and those adorable bird stickers from the Amy Tangerine sticker book.

I hope you have a wonderful day, filled with white space!

Cara Vincens-2

Hi Girls! It’s Flóra here today. I have a new 12″ layout made with the August Hip Kits. The starting point of my layout was the Crate Paper – Cute Girl – Rainbows Paper. I could use both side of it, thanks for the August Paper Add-On Kit. Then I found out the flowers from the HKC Exclusive Ephemera pack- Designed by Claudia Van Rooijen are perfectly matching my favourite patterned paper. 🙂

After I placed the colorful stripe on the wood grain paper I added zigzag machine stitching with matching colors.

Then I placed my photo on the page. I used an Amy Tangerine – Oh Happy Life – Die Cut from the August Color Kit as and extra layer behind my photo.

When the base was ready I started to adhere embellisments. The big bold Hello title come from the Dear Lizzy – Saturday – Hello Thickers sheet from the August Main Kit. This made my page really characteristic. I used lots of Crate Paper – Cute Girl – Adorable Puffy Thickers and Dear Lizzy – Saturday – Black Foil Stickers from the August Embellishment Kit. These are my favourite embellishments this month.

As finishing touch I scattered tiny colorful enamel dots  from My Mind’s Eye – Hooray  and Crate Paper – Cute Girl collection.

I hope you like my new page. I think the result is so lovely and colorful as we are together with my Mom. 😀 Thanks for stopping by!

Creating Lovely Layers Using Ephemera | Adrienne Alvis

Hello Hip Kit Club fans! I’m here today sharing my first layout that I created using the gorgeous September 2016 Hip Kits! I recently celebrated my 34th birthday so I decided to make a layout documenting the milestone.

As soon as I opened my kits I was instantly drawn to the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes “Gather” ephemera pack that’s available in the September 2016 Main Kit. I love the colors and variety of the ephemera bits so I started laying out the pieces that I wanted to include on my page.

After I used one of the free September 2016 cut files as part of my background, I placed my photos about one third of the way down my page and started layering ephemera bits around them. I also placed the number 34 from the Blessed Thickers (also available in the Main Kit) next to the “Hello” ephemera piece to create my title.

I continued placing the Crate Paper ephemera pieces down my page and used several of the Simple Stories Posh Bits and Pieces from the September 2016 Project Life Kit because they coordinated so well with the Gather ephemera bits and my color scheme.

And for even more added dimension and texture, I layered a few of the Simple Stories Posh decorative brads and some of the beautiful washi tape from the same collection that’s available in the September 2016 Embellishment Kit onto my page as well.

Thanks so much for joining me today! The September 2016 Hip Kits are jam packed with so many lovely items that I know you’ll love. I hope I’ve inspired you to use all of that beautiful ephemera to create some amazing layered looks! Have a wonderful day.

A Clean Slate to Plan

Ah a new school year, so fresh with so much potential. Just like new school supplies, clean notebooks and shiny pens, the school year smells new, hopeful, like a fresh start!

I’ve always loved back to school, it may only be my obsessive love for stationary 😉 But I think there’s more to it. I love the excuse to wipe everything clean and just start fresh. I love the potential of that big blank space and ideas and inspriation always come to me!

Now, of course, there’s no rule that says that you can only start over when the school calendar turns over, or at the beginning of the new year. These are just the traditional ‘fresh start’ times. I encourage you to start afresh when ever you feel like you need it. When things get stagnant or when you get a sparkly shiny idea that eats away at your every thought until you put into action. If it happens to be January 1 or the first day of school, that’s awesome but don’t let the date keep you from acting on what’s motivating you. Let March 2nd, July 17th, any date, your birthday, tomorrow, today, RIGHT NOW be your start afresh day!!

I love the quote sticker from the Dear Lizzy pack in the August Embellishment kit.

So of course I added that to my September spread, t was first thing I picked to add. I scattered some of the exclusive die cuts (also from the embellishment kit) and more of the Dear Lizzy stickers, also from this kit are some of the puffy stickers form Crate paper. I cut a couple cards from the Be You patterned paper from Crate Paper – Cute Girl in the Main August kit. I used some of the Amy Tan die cuts from this kit as well. From the Project Life kit, I used a clear sticker and some stickers from the Amy Tangerine book.

For my weekly spread for this week, I wanted it to feel special for my kids, since it’s our last full week before school starts. So, I named it ‘magic’ using a sticker from the Dear Lizzy pack.

Along with the countdown numbers (until school starts) and then some puffy stickers that were in the Crate paper puffy pack. These were all from the August embellishment kit. From the August Main kit I punched boxes from the Dear Lizzy ‘Saturday’ paper, using both sides (LOVE both sides of this paper soooo much!!) and added a strip of it along the bottom. I also glued some gold starts from the Crate paper – Cute Girl small embellishment pack and one of the bow clips, also from that pack.

The tip-in is a die cut from the Amy Tan pack that I washi-ed in. I can always use a little more room on the back to write 😀

From the Project Life kit, I used owl stickers from the Amy Tangerine sticker book and the exclusive clear banner stickers. that ‘enjoy’ card is an exclusive die cut from a previous kit, that just fit so well, I added it in.

I made this today bookmark live on Periscope, which you can watch here:

I do tutorials live every Thursday using fun products from the Hip Kit club kits, so please come join us, or if you miss it you can catch the replay. Check it out so that you can see how I made the back look as pretty as the front 😀

For the clip, I used two cutie-pie house stickers from the Crate Paper puffy stickers in the Embellishment kit. They just happened to be mirror images so they were super easy to turn into a clip.

Have a fantastic week, and don’t forget, you can start anytime!!

Yeah Yeah Yeah |Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone!

It’s Tarrah McLean joining you and today I have a new layout featuring the AMAZING August Main Hip Kit and Add-On Kits!

Yeah Yeah Yeah

This week my brief was Crazy About Text and so well I pretty much went crazy with text! I decided to whip out those yummy Prima Oil Pastels from the August 2016 Colour Add-On Kit! Firstly I used my Silhouette Cameo to sketch out the Yeah Yeah cut file created by Kim Watson. I then proceeded to color and blend in a ROYGBIV manner with the pastels but when it was finished, it looked a bit too messy for me and there was just SO much colour so I decided to use the very same cut file, this time cutting it out from white cardstock and layering it right over the top of the sketched one. This way there are just some hints of colour poking out from underneath!

Yeah Yeah Yeah Detail

I added lots of embellishments to this layout like the Amy Tangerine ‘Oh Happy Life’ stickers and ephemera, I absolutely love the giraffes and combie vans in this collection! I also really liked the look of the Pink Paislee ‘Take Me Away’ mirror pieces, so I added a few of those around too!

Yeah Yeah Yeah Detail 2

One of the exclusive Project Life cards fits nicely as a layering piece under my photo to bring some of the colours over to my black and white photo and I also used a few of the exclusive die-cuts from the August 2016 Hip Kit Club exclusive pack this month too!

Yeah Yeah Yeah Detail 3

Since I used a photo of my two sons on this layout I just had to add that ‘Crazy’ transparent title! They are crazy boys and boy do we have some awesome fun together at times! This is a photo of them up in their tree house practicing using a selfie stick!!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Hip Kit Club blog today! The September kits will be shipping really soon so stay tuned for when they will be coming!

Tarrah x

Bold colors love | FLORA MONIKA FARKAS

Hi! It’s Flóra back with a new layout made with the August Hip Kits. For this layout I used a lot of Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life pattern papers and embellishments. I love the Ephemera pack from the Main Kit as well as the Sticker Book from the Project Life Kit.

live simply hkc

It’s a very simple layout with few paper strips and with slipped photos. I just added a big bold title from Dear Lizzy – Saturday – Hello Thickers included in the August Main Kit.

dear lizzy hello stickers

The clear Amy Tangerine stickers look really vibrant on the white cardstock, so I used a lot. I also added few pastel leaves what I cut out with Silhouette Cameo. These are designed by Kim Watson and only for subscribers available.

I like to play with Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life collection because the result will be always super fun. Thanks for stopping by today!
