Pretty Smile | Nicole Nowosad

Good morning!!  It’s the Thanksgiving long weekend up here in Canada, so I am extra excited to NOT work on Monday! Makes today even better 🙂

Sharing another page using the September Hip Kits today & using up some of my scraps on this page too!

Pretty smile

I really haven’t had a ton of mojo this month, so this page was tough for me! I decided to work with some scraps of paper and create a simple grid pattern for the page. When in a rut, stick to the basics I say! I layered the two different wood veneers in the kits together to make my title and added some of the pink Dylusions paint to the “pretty” to jazz it up a little. Love that shade of pink.

Pretty smile cl2

I love all the embellishments in the Hip Kits, this time I added some fun Crate Paper chipboard to my grid to add some dimension over the layers of paper, adding a few Dear Lizzy rub ons from the kits too!

Pretty smile cl1

That’s it for me today! See you again next weekend 🙂

She’s a Wild One | Missy Whidden

Hello, everyone!  It’s Missy again, and I have another fun and bright layout to share today using the 2015 September Hip Kits!  I started this layout with that cute little zebra from the Main Kit and worked my entire page around him.  I chose this photo of my Wild Child being tossed into the air, and her hair is completely standing straight up and looking very “wild,” so I went with the wild animal theme here…haha!  I decided to create a grid design, and one of the rectangles is filled with the Amy Tan washi tape.  I used a bit of white gesso over parts of the background so I could fade a few parts out and then come in with some yellow spray ink from the March Color Kit.  I also used the Cracked Pistachio Distress Marker to add a touch of green to the background.  I also used up a ton of the embellishments from the kits.
Wild One
I used the Lemon Twist Paint Dabber from the May Color Kit to paint this “play” wood veneer.  I’ve been wanting to the use these acetate pieces, and this was the perfect place to put them.
Wild One1
Here you can see where I did some of the yellow inking on the background.  I also machine stitched around the rectangles in different colors.  I fussy cut that “happy” banner piece from one of the Project Life cards.  I backed that cute acetate camera with white paper and then stapled it down and added pop dots to raise it up.
Wild One2
Those balloons are so bright and fun, and I just had to use them on this layout.  I did bring in a few stamps and some of the pink word strips from the April Kits because they just went with this design and color scheme so well.  I also added pop dots to the zebra and added some tangled thread and a rub-on under him.  I also added in a few enamel hearts, a puffy arrow sticker and a stamp.
Wild One3
Here’s a look at all the washi tape from the Embellishment Kit.  Since I used the zebra, it was only fair that I used the puffy giraffe, too, right?  I added gold stitching around the washi tape rectangle and then layered in a die cut, a puffy sticker and a stamp.
Wild One4
One last close-up here of the title area.  I used those awesome tall slender Thickers and combined them with the Elle’s Studio grey alphas.  I love mixing and matching fonts and colors for titles.
Wild One5
Here’s the process video to this layout if you’d like to see how it all came together.  I hope you enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have an awesome day!

Cards | Nicole Nowosad

Good morning!! I am always happy to be on the blog bright and early on the weekend – this week I have a couple cards made with the September kits!

I really wanted to use some of the yellow Dylusions paint from the color add-on and decided I would try to add some splashes of color to some quick cards!

Cards

I simply added some swipes of yellow paint to the cards where I wanted the sentiments to be placed. I ended up adding a little more around the edges to balance out the color a bit. On this first card, I added the paint over part of a messed up rub on and it helps hide my boo boo a bit 🙂

just for you card

This cards is all about color ! I wanted to use the balloons from the Amy Tangerine Rise & Shine Ephemera pack and layered it over some dry paint with a stamped sentiment from my stash.

Hooray for today card

I fell in love withe the kraft and woodgrain papers in the kits this month and used them on all my cards too.

I diecut a pattern from my cut file store and added some papers to the back side with papers from the kits, adding the whole thing with foam adhesive to the kraft card base.

Happy birthday DAY

On this last card, I used all my leftovers, adding in some torn washi tape from the booklet and a floral diecut that I cut in half tucked under a strip of woodgrain paper.

Its your birthday cars

Well, that’s it for me today! Thanks for stopping by the blog and see you next weekend!

Two Layouts | Missy Whidden

Happy Tuesday to you!  Missy here.  I have two fun layouts to share using the 2015 September Hip Kits!  I cannot get enough of these amazing products…they are truly beautiful!  I have really been enjoying all the bold blues and yellows this month.  For my first page, I used one of the cut files from the August Cut File Set designed by Kim Watson.  I made the heart circle into a few different sizes and cut them on four different patterned papers from the Main Kit.  I used a wide strip of that gorgeous yellow heart paper from Dear Lizzy and then went over the entire background with some white gesso.  I used some of the Lemon Zest Dylusions Paint from the August Color Kit to create the yellow background circles.  I also used some of the Lemon Twist Paint Dabber from the May Color Kit mixed with some water to create a watercolor effect.
Pretty
I used a few Project Life cards as layers behind my photo and stitched around every circle.  Some of the smaller ones got really messy…I’m not the best at sewing in circles!  I also used a lot of the Dear Lizzy Rub-Ons around the page.
Pretty1
These die cuts are so fun to play with, and I love all the blues mixed together here.  I just had to add in this “hello” rub-on…the color is just beautiful, and I love how it curves around the circle just perfectly.  I also added in one of those shiny gold heart Thickers.
Pretty2
Another angle of one of the die cuts, rub-ons and background work.  I used the same circle stencil to trace the black circles here that I used to make the yellow circles.
Pretty3
I heat embossed this gorgeous wood veneer.  I used gold embossing powder from my stash, and I love how sparkly it turned out.  I layered one of the wood chips under my photo and added that beautiful blue flower bouquet die cut.
Pretty4
Here’s my process video if you’d like to see how this layout was created from start to finish.

For my second page, I challenged myself to not use any of the royal blue elements in the kits.  I decided to scrap a 4-wheeler ride photo, so I wanted to use more of the wood grains and yellows in the kits.  I started with the wood grain patterned paper from Dear Lizzy and smudged some white gesso on it.  I use lots of gelatos and spray inks to create a watercolor effect.  I cut one of the awesome September Cut Files on some of the light yellow cardstock and used it as a layer  under my photo.  I also used a lot of the Dear Lizzy Rub-Ons (from the Project Life Kit) as well as some of the Crate Paper Wonder chipboard pieces from the Embellishment Kit.

Ridin'
I used a bit of the Lemon Twist Paint Dabber again on this one through the American Crafts lined stencil and then added some gold and pink ink splatters.  I just love the rich pink color of this heart rub-on…and I love it mixed in with the teals and yellows.
Ridin'1
This little Amy Tan die cut was the perfect addition here.  I love the gold foil, and I added even more with some gold stitching.  Luckily I had some of the perfect dark pink thread in my stash, so I added some in here for another pop of color.  I also backed that cute camera piece with the yellow cardstock.
Ridin'3

I was excited to use that awesome Crate Paper chipboard frame around my photo.  I fussy cut “do what you love” from one of the Project Life cards…it matches perfectly!  I love using those cards on my layouts in some shape or form.

Ridin'5

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  See you next week!

Love You | Missy Whidden

Happy Tuesday, Hip Kit fans!  Missy here. I have a really fun layout to share today using the 2015 August Hip Kits!  I got a little creative with the Dylusions Paints from the Color Kit on this page.  I started with the Rise & Shine background paper and added a bit of white gesso.  I used my circle ink blending tool with the spongy foam piece on the end and dipped a bit of the yellow paint on one side and the pink on the other.  I smudged it around a bit and then squirted some water directly on to the foam and then smushed it and turned it onto the paper.  It blended the two colors together and made a really cool effect!  This is a super fun thing to try if you like circles.  I also used a few of the exclusive stencils from the Color Kit as well.
Love You Reesie Cup
Here’s a close up of the painted smushed circles…don’t they look cool?  I love the hints of orange where they blended together.  You can also try to just stamp the foam down to get a bit of a different look.  I hand drew a big heart on the background and then stitched it several times using black thread.  That cute “Smile” puffy sticker is from Pinkfresh Studio.
Love You Reesie Cup4
Here’s a look a the bottom.  I used a strip of the charcoal cardstock to line the bottom of the page and some of the Dear Lizzy washi tape under it.  I stitched through it all and added some of the script alphas from Pinkfresh as well as some of the wood grain Thickers and a Freckled Fawn chipboard heart.
Love You Reesie Cup1
I love the dimension created here.  I pulled one of the Rise & Shine chipboard frames from my April kit since it went perfectly with this background paper (same collection) and then layered some of the Fine & Dandy chipboard and a Crate Paper camera die cut on top of it.  That cute felt heart is Crate Paper as well as the enamel dots and sequin.
Love You Reesie Cup2
One more look at the awesome background…I really hope you try this technique!  It was fun and the result is just awesome.
Love You Reesie Cup3
You can check out my process video on how to do this background and how I created this layout from start to finish.  I hope it inspires you in some way!

Happy Hose Time | Missy Whidden

Hey there, Hip Kit friends 🙂  Missy here again to share another layout using the 2015 May Hip Kits.  I was inspired by some of Irit’s work lately and by the bright colors in my daughter’s swim suit.  I pulled out all the inks and sprays from all the Color Kits from February through May to create my background.  I did add clear gesso to the bulk of the background before any inking began.  I used the plastic packaging technique mostly.  I also used a few of the American Crafts stencils from the May Color Kit.  I used some of the Prima Watercolor Pencils from the April Color Kit as well.
Happy Hose Time
I added in a lot of stamping (from the Chickaniddy set from the May Project Life Kit) and stitching.  I used the two paint dabbers from the May Color Kit to give this Evalicious wood veneer some beautiful color.
Happy Hose Time1
Here’s the top of the page.  That fun tag is from the Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss line.  I used the black Prima Watercolor Pencil to trace some of the stencils.  I like that it adds some pops of black around the page, and it looks sharp on top of all that gorgeous color.
Happy Hose Time2
This cute yellow card is from the May Project Life Kit.  I used it as a base for my title, which contains a lot of “Happy”…haha 😀  Since Reese was playing with the hose, I decided to go with Happy Hose Time as my title…not the most creative, but it fits.  I combined the blue Pebbles alphas with the Chickaniddy Enamel Words as well.
Happy Hose Time3
Here’s one more look at the mixed media background.  I used the yellow dabber through one of the stencils here…I love how it turned out.  And I love the beautiful orange shade I got when the pink and yellow Dylusions mixed.
Happy Hose Time4
You can check out my process video if you’d like…it shows I created this layout from start to finish.  Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

You Are My Sunshine | Missy Whidden

Hey there, Hip Kit fans!  Missy here.  Today I’m sharing my second layout using the 2015 April Hip Kits.  I can’t get enough of these gorgeous bright colors!  I started off with some of the kraft cardstock in the Cardstock Kit as my background.  I added some white gesso and then added in some pink and blue watercolors and gelatos.  The pops of yellow are from the Lemon Zest Dylusions Spray Ink from last month’s Color Kit.  I cut some of the beautiful squares from the sheet of patterned paper included in the Color Kit and used them to create a horizontal design.
You Are My Sunshine
It was difficult to not use every single embellishment on this layout!  I chose a few of these cute Freckled Fawn wood veneer word arrows, some of the gold Heidi Swapp chipboard stickers and a few of the colorful epoxy stickers from Amy Tan.  They all layer beautifully.
You Are My Sunshine2
This camera die cut is white, so I added some blue gelatos to it and topped it with a few epoxy stickers.  That round wood veneer tag is from American Crafts and it matches perfectly!  Those cute sentiment stickers are also from Amy Tan, and there are TON of them in the kit!
You Are My Sunshine3
Here you an start to see some of the mixed media work on the background and on top of the patterned papers.  I added in some machine stitching on that chipboard frame and the background.  I also threw in some tangled thread in various matching colors.
You Are My Sunshine4
Finally, here’s a close up of the gorgeous shiny gold Thicker words!  My favorite!  I don’t see myself ever getting sick of the gold trend 🙂
You Are My Sunshine5
If you’d like to see exactly how I put this layout together, check out my process video 🙂  Enjoy!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

March Pocket Page | Patricia Roebuck

I am so excited to share my first pocket pages with you guys! I am in my fourth year of doing my personal Project Life album and it is my most favorite project I do and the most important to me.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

I have been wanting to change it up the last year or two and finally took the plunge this year.  I do mine monthly now and I also use October Afternoon’s 3×3 pockets.  This change has been wonderful for me.  I pick my photos using Lightroom.  After I do some quick edits, I add the photos to my Quick Collection, then from there, I print in various print sizes I created.   I do an overview of the month, so not every photo I’ve taken throughout the month will make my spread.  I keep it to two pages only.  I’m thinking of starting a separate pocket style album.  That and layouts to fill in more details.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

I used mostly the new Hip Kit Pocket Page March kit.  But mixed in the Color Kit and Embellishment Kit.  Another change of something I have wanted to do for awhile, is keeping my spreads flat.  Paint, stickers, mist, rubons, all of these still add so much detail but no bulk.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

I love a mix of photos showing all of us, our lives.  But I also see this as leaving my mark.  Almost my replacement for my long-lost art journal.  I used the stencil and the mist and paint from the Color Kit, including some of me using my phone or selfie stick.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

I loved using the entire sticker sheet from the Pocket Page kit here.  I just trimmed it down to fit inside the pocket, and added one of the sentiment stickers over it.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

I print some of my photos to not fit the entire size of the pocket, and used the reverse side of some of the cards to apply lines of paint and the used the large circle stencil from the Color Kit.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

So many ways to still add so much texture and interest to your spreads without the bulk.  I used the rubons here from the Embellishment Kit with the labels from the Pocket Page kit.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

For the cards that I used from the kit, I just trimmed down to make them work and then added typing, die cuts, stickers, stitching, etc.  (see my typo…LOL…all good, I know what I meant)

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

The only embellishment that had a little more bulk that I added were the sequins from the kit.  I just stitched them into place over one of the photo overlays from the Embellishment Kit.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

Thank you for joining me today and letting me share my personal Project Life with you.

Chalk Imagination | Patricia Roebuck

Sometimes layouts need a re-do.  But be sure to salvage any precious parts that can be re-purposed.  That is what I did with the top piece of pattern paper with the stitching.  I had new inspiration right when I was about to clean off the March Kits scattered all over my messy desk, and everything came together so much better the second time.

Chalk Imagination @hipkitclub @paroe #hipkitclub March 2015 Kits #scrapbooking

I used the navy cardstock from the March Cardstock Kit and the green paint dabber from the March Color Kit and large circle stencil and let dry.  Cut that piece out and tucked under the stitched pink pattern paper.   Then cutting along the plus signs of the pink pattern paper, to form a larger plus sign, I cut a piece from the vellum from the March Main Kit to stitch on top.

Chalk Imagination @hipkitclub @paroe #hipkitclub March 2015 Kits #scrapbooking

Then I tucked in more pieces of pattern paper, fussy cuts of pattern paper, labels, and the layered the clear My Mind’s Eye frame from the Embellishment kit and added part of my title, “CHALK,” on top.  I stitched ‘imagination’ to the bottom of these layers.

For the top half of the layout, I added sequins from the March pocket page kit, and die cuts from the March Embellishment kit and chipboard from the Main kit.

Chalk Imagination @hipkitclub @paroe #hipkitclub March 2015 Kits #scrapbooking

Because I had my layout created already, I added my journaling by hand.  So glad I started off with a not so good layout to create the perfect layout for this photo and story.  Thank you for joining me!
