YOLO | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. I come to You with my fourth page created with March Hip Kits. My April kits are somewhere in the world on the way to my door step but I still have plenty of March goodies to play with. I created this page with dream catcher inspired by three feather stickers from “Little by little” sticker sheet. I wanted to use them in some project earlier but they just didn’t match my layouts because they are quite big. And now, as a feathers  attached to the dream catcher, they are just perfect. You can find Shimelle’s “Little by little” sticker sheet in March Main Kit.

I used pink cardstock from Cardstock Kit for my background. I backed it with one of the “Chasing dreams” papers. I love the pink – yellow color combo. I also fussy cut the roses and other small flowers from Dear Lizzy paper. All the patterned papers are included in both Main Kit and Paper Kit.

Roses with laves created beautiful layer under my picture. I chose the funny one taken with special app because it matches great with my YOLO title. And I wanted to use this golden YOLO from acrylic stickers by Pinkfresh Studio for a while. Those stickers and included in the Embellishment Kit.

I repeated the golden accents in the corner using another acrylic sticker along with banners from “Little by little” stickers sheet. My beautiful feathers also have a gold foiling on them.

My last steps was adding two cute cameras from “Lovely day” ephemera pack by Dear Lizzy. You can find them in Project Life Kit.

That’s all for today. I hope I inspired You to use a dream catcher theme on some of Your pages. Thank You for stopping by and see You in few days on Facebook.

XO Anna

Thursday Inspiration: A Few of Our Favourite Things!

Hey everyone! We hope you’re all having a wonderful week so far! Today, we have 3 takes on the things we loved the most that came in our kits for March and April.

Cara: Patterned Papers

I’m a scrapbooker as well as a planner girl. Patterned paper is always my favourite when I scrapbook, there are so many possibilities! I thought that I would bring that over to my planner. I absolutely adore fussy cutting, give me a good movie and some sharp scissors and I’m a happy camper.

I grabbed a couple of my favourite papers, (from Dear Lizzy for American Crafts), in my March main kit, and cut out words and flowers to make clusters in my spread for this week.

I took a few more papers from Shimelle (American Crafts) and Paige Evans (Pink Paislee) and added squares and the word ‘PLAY’ about the pages. A few die cuts from Paige Evans (March Main Kit) and Dear Lizzy (March Project life kit) and some enamel dots (March Main Kit) were all I needed to finish off the spread.

The planner clip was made from the same Dear Lizzy paper as ‘dreamer’ and ‘love’. I made it so that it can be moved along the page to mark the current day.

When I made it, I realised that if I was fussy cutting, it would be smart to cut a second piece at the same time so that I would have a matching piece for the back to cover the paperclip. To keep them from moving around, I used a binder clip and moved it only at the end when the only side I had left to cut was the one under the clip.

Happy Planning!

Jessica: All The Florals!

Hey guys! I wondered what I go for most when I scrap and undoubtedly it’s pink as a color, mixed media for the technique, and flowers for the patterns/embellishment. The April kit really has some lovely chipboard flowers to scrap with. Little spoiler: I was assigned a no-flower task later, I know exactly why that happened (lol). Anyway, here’s the layout I’m going to share with you today:

I used my floral lace cut file that you can find in the march downloads; I changed it up a little to how I liked it better and then cut it with my Silhouette Cameo.

To color in the cut file I used my new Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor palette which I love! The colors are so vibrant and pretty. So yes, the good life for me definitely consists of pink, watercolors and flowers! What about you?

Thanks for joining me and check out what Ashley came up with!

Ashley: Pink Fresh Acetate

For my project, I’ve created a Project Life spread for you all with a focus on one of my favorite products from the kit (the Pinkfresh Acetate).

I started by cutting some of the patterned papers down to size to fit in my pockets. I also used one of the HKC Exclusive PL cards from our Project Life Kit.

I used some of the alphas from Pinkfresh Studio (Embellishment Kit) and the My Mind’s Eye “Palm Beach” Collection (PL kit).

I lightly embellished with pieces from the “Live More” collection, but also from the “Oh My Heart” collection.

One of my favorite things in this kit is the acetate pieces! I love the colors and the designs. I wanted to keep things simple, therefore, I chose approximately one piece per card, although there are photos without them (they just wouldn’t have shown up great on those particular photos).

On the title card, I sewed the acetate piece for more texture but I also love how subtle this yellow and pink tag is on the bright pink card.

I hope y’all enjoyed this process and gained some inspiration!! 🙂

Sweet Friends | Nicole Nowosad

Good morning everyone! Nicole here again today to share a quick page using the March Hip Kits!

I really wanted to cut apart a title from the fun Dear Lizzy paper in this month’s kit and the rest went from there.

Sweet friends cl2

I decided to use one of the exclusive cut files available for March to go with this project and cut it from some plain white cardstock from the cardstock add on. I used the No. 24 paper by Pink Paislee in the kit to back some of the open flowers on the cut file.

Sweet friends cl3

This allowed me to add a few pops of color to the sides of the page, while still keeping it quite simple. I added some of the exclusive enamel dots to the centers of some of the diecut flowers and then finished my page with some great embellishments from the embellishment add on and main kit.

Sweet friends cl1

It’s pretty simple, but came together nice and easy with all the hard work done before hand in prepping the kits!

You can check out my process in this video here:

Thanks so much for popping by the blog this morning! Make sure to stop by later for more inspiration from the rest of the team!

Turning Triangles Into Circles | Adrienne Alvis

Hi everyone! I’m here today sharing a bright and colorful layout that I created using the May 2016 Hip Kits! The fun triangle shapes on the Meadowbrook “Lucy In The Sky” HKC exclusive patterned paper was the main inspiration for my page design. I knew right away that I wanted to fussy cut the triangles and arrange them in a circular design on my layout.

For a bright color effect, I added some yellow spray ink on the background paper “Notes From Home” from the Meadowbrook collection (available in the May 2016 Paper Kit) and then arranged the fussy-cut triangles in large circles around my page leaving some room for my photos near the center of the paper.

I added the “today” phrase from the Meadowbrook Ephemera pack that’s available in the May 2016 Main Kit and layered it at the bottom of one of my photos of my daughter and I riding the train at the zoo. I placed several of the Meadowbrook Triangle Acrylic Shapes (available in the May 2016 Embellishment Kit) around my photos to draw the eye around my layout. I love how the acrylic shapes give my page an added dimension and a fun texture!

I used one of the HKC exclusive Project Life cards from the May 2016 Project Life Kit and cut it to fit in one of the Simple Stories “Life In Color” Chipboard Frames for my title. The colors of those chipboard frames coordinate so well with the HKC exclusives!

I hope I’ve inspired you to use the fun triangular patterned paper from the Meadowbrook Collection in a different way! Thanks so much for joining me today!

Oh Happy Day with Wendy

Wendy with you this Friday morning!  Today I am sharing a layout with my favorite paper, the French Doors from We R Memory Keepers found in the Main Kit.

Oh Happy Day border

After adding a few pieces to my picture, my picture still seemed overwhelmed by the busy paper, so I chose the Stone cardstock from the Cardstock add-on to mat my paper on.  That helped so I began adding a few embellishments from the My Mind’s Eye ephemera packet.  After fussy cutting my title from the paper my layout was almost done… except it still seemed to be missing something.  I added in some black stitching to outline pieces of my layout and then I couldn’t resist any longer, I began to cut out window panes allowing the cardstock to peek through.

Oh Happy Day-2

Oh Happy Day-3

If you run out of room for journaling, or your papers are too busy, add a few lines in the blank spaces of your photos!

Oh Happy Day-4

Sometimes my pages take a while, the design happens right away, but it takes time to tweak things and get them so I am happy.  I always leave my pages out for me to walk by a few times before I decide if they are finished; it helps with the tweaking process.

Thanks for stopping by today, have a great weekend!
