Dream and Remember to be Happy | Jessica Fabiano

I believe that dreams are important in life. I am a child at heart. I love to dream and fantasize about the what-ifs, it’s a nice place to visit. However, it’s important to stick to what makes us happy as we are awake. Professor Dumbledore has a similar opinion, he says “it doesn’t do to dwell in dreams and forget to live.” I guess he’s right. But a little dream here and then doesn’t hurt. Perhaps you can even catch one of them? Enough pseudo-philosophy, let’s get back to the layout!

hkcjanuary

This layout is my first layout using the gorgeous January 2017 Hip Kits. They’re full of soft and dreamy colors. I love the enchanted atmosphere that comes with the Moonstruck bits and pieces by Pink Paislee – one of my all-time favorite collection that has been released during the last year. Perhaps it was due to that that I couldn’t help but quote Harry Potter?

I am fairly new to designing cut-files, that’s why I am very proud to say that I managed to create a dream catcher. Click here to grab your free set of the Dream Catcher cut file (note: you will have to log into your Hip Kit Club account; if you don’t have one register for free and receive free cut files every month!).

As you can see I colored in the dream catcher. I used alcohol markers for that, then stitched around the edge of the dream catcher and the heart behind it.

fullsizerender69I love feathers. I really do. Perhaps you can tell that the ephemera ones are lighter – that’s because I painted over them with a white Gelato in order to get an even better dreamy effect.

I wanted to bring more attention to my title – I know that I always choose the easy way when it comes to titles; I mainly use pre-written Thickers. However, I also cherish a nice mix and a message, even though I don’t always stick to wanting to do that. Look at the gorgeous wood veneers – they’re HKC exclusive! So is the “HAPPY” ephemera. And those golden Thickers…they have a realistic chance of becoming my January Hip Kit Club favorite product of the month.

Here’s a list of the products I used for my January 2017 layout:

  • Dream Catcher January 2017 cut file
  • Golden Thickers from the Main Kit
  • Wood veneers from the Main Kit
  • Project Life foiled frames from the Main Kit
  • Epehemera designed by Kimberly from the Main Kit
  • 1Canoe2/Hazlewood Golden Clip from the Embellishment Kit
  • Fabric Thickers from the Embellishment Kit
  • Pink Paislee/Moonstruck cork stickers from the Embellishment Kit
  • “Glorious Day” golden Shimmerz mist from the October 2016 Color Kit

I hope you’ve had some fun joining me today. Magical wishes!

SNOW GLOBE LAYOUT | FLORA MONIKA FARKAS

Hi Girls! It’s Flóra back with a Christmas themed layout made with November 2016 Hip Kits. Today’s layout is based on a snow globe idea. I love to oversize elements on my layouts, so I cut out a huge snow globe with my Silhouette Cameo . I used patterned papers from November 2016 Paper Kit.

snow-globe-scrapbook-layout-hip-kit-club

snow-globe-scrapbook-layout

Then I worked on the layering behind the photo. I clustered lots of bits and pieces from Crate Paper – Snow & Cocoa – Ephemera included in December Documented 2016 Kit.

pinkfresh-studio-mirror-acrylic-sticker

Once this was done I created snow slopes from white cardstock. I placed fussy cut pine trees, houses and cute birds on the slopes.

I decorated the layout with HKC Exclusive – ‘Tis the Season – Puffy Stickers – designed by Kim Watson and colorful sequins from the November 2016 Embellishment Kit.

The title was created from Pinkfresh Studio – Oh Joy – Gold Mirror Acrylic Stickers and Hip Kit Club – ‘Tis the Season – Ephemera – designed by Kim Watson.

Grid Tree – BEA Valint

Hey everyone, its BEA here today sharing a new layout using the November kits and cut files. The gorgeous and festive November Kit is just perfect for Christmas memory keeping and any kind of winter projects!

xmastree.jpg

My assignment this week was to create a grid layout. I decided to turn it into a kind of Christmas tree form grid using patterned papers and my photos.  I chose the beautiful snowflakes exclusive patterned paper as my background from the Main Kit.

untitled-2746.JPG

I trimmed some Crate Paper patterned paper into small pieces, and machine stitched them  to the background in a Christmas tree form. The beautiful patterns looks so pretty next to each other.  I used one of my photo as a part of the tree form too, the pretty ornaments reflect our Christmas spirit perfectly. I adhered my daughter’s pictures with foam dots, and embellished the layout with exclusive ephemera, stickers and flair button.

untitled-2740.JPG

Did you know that HKC celebrates 12 Days of Giving with some super fun free cut files? They will be a fun addition to any of your holiday projects, I used the Holiday Cheer cut file as the title of my layout, it looks so pretty on the layout.

I hope this layout gives you some inspiration! Have a nice weekend! BEA

Upcycling: DIY Gift Boxes | Jessica Fabiano

Hey everybody. It’s Jessica Fabiano with you today. I hope you’re doing well. Christmas is going to be here faster than we expect – and the days can get very busy. If you’re like me, having thought of all the presents and little goodies, but then realize last minute that you forgot to buy little boxes too…well, for those I have an idea: Upcycle some of your packages that you have at home! So much fun.

hkcnovember2

I used some old little boxes that I just wrapped up with the gorgeous paper from the Hip Kit Club November Kits.

Crate Paper has released their beautiful Snow&Cocoa line that’s full of mint green and pink and whimsical designs;  I love it!

fullsizerender28

First I painted my little boxes white; they came with an ugly print so I recommend doing that. Wait until it’s completely dry. Another advice: be careful using double sided tape! For some reason, my tape came off and I tore down all my white layers 😦 that was annoying.

I added two gorgeous PL cards from the December Documented Kit ; Kim Watson designed them and I can’t believe how perfect they are. The puffy stickers from the  November Embellishment Kit  were added to the cards to bring in some more interest. Look at the sequins I used to make them the Christmas tree ornaments!

I hope you’ve had some fun joining me today!

Family Portrait| FLORA MONIKA FARKAS

Hi Girls! It’s Flóra back. This time my theme was DIY background. I interpreted it differently as I didn’t feel like to do any mixed media etc, so I decided to create a room interior what gives the background, but also part of the layout.

family-portait

First of all I chose the background paper from the October 2016 Main Kit, then I placed the We R Memory Keepres Honey I’m Home frame die cuts from the October Embellishment Kit. After this I adhered the light bulbs and hang them with cables what I draw with a pencil. I am very satisfied finally I was able to use them as they are super cute, but let’s be honest, it’s very hard to use them on a scrapbook layout.

wrmk-honey-im-home-ephemera-2

I embellished the frames with more WRMK – Honey I’m Home – Ephemera and Simple Stories – Posh –  Stickers and WRMK – Honey I’m Home – Stickers from October 2016 Project Life Kit.

simple-stories-posh-sticker-2

I created the title with mix of Pink Paislee – Take Me Away – Phrase Thickers and Exclusive Hip Kit Club Coral Puffy Alphabet Stickers. It looked too plain so I added WRM – Honey I’m Home – Puffy Stickers to cheer up.

I hope you like my new scrapbook layout. Have a great weekend and happy crafting!

Big title | FLORA MONIKA FARKAS

Hi Girls! It’s Flóra here today. I have a new 12″ layout made with the August Hip Kits. The starting point of my layout was the Crate Paper – Cute Girl – Rainbows Paper. I could use both side of it, thanks for the August Paper Add-On Kit. Then I found out the flowers from the HKC Exclusive Ephemera pack- Designed by Claudia Van Rooijen are perfectly matching my favourite patterned paper. 🙂

hello-best-mom-layout

After I placed the colorful stripe on the wood grain paper I added zigzag machine stitching with matching colors.

amy-tangerine-dear-lizzy

Then I placed my photo on the page. I used an Amy Tangerine – Oh Happy Life – Die Cut from the August Color Kit as and extra layer behind my photo.

hip-kit-layout-by-floramfarkas

When the base was ready I started to adhere embellisments. The big bold Hello title come from the Dear Lizzy – Saturday – Hello Thickers sheet from the August Main Kit. This made my page really characteristic. I used lots of Crate Paper – Cute Girl – Adorable Puffy Thickers and Dear Lizzy – Saturday – Black Foil Stickers from the August Embellishment Kit. These are my favourite embellishments this month.

hip-kit-august

As finishing touch I scattered tiny colorful enamel dots  from My Mind’s Eye – Hooray  and Crate Paper – Cute Girl collection.

I hope you like my new page. I think the result is so lovely and colorful as we are together with my Mom. 😀 Thanks for stopping by!

Keep Calm and Eat a Donut | Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, Raquel here today with you sharing my newest layout using the August kits. These kits seriously have to be one of my favourite ever that I have worked with! Loving each and every piece and the beautiful colour palettes that can be achieved.

keepcalm-logo

For my layout this week my task was to ‘make it masculine’. My style I guess could be described as soft and feminine so I wanted to stay true to that whilst incorporating elements that would make my layout appear more masculine.

To achieve this I stuck with a white background and title, pops of colour from the kits and lots of contrasts of black. For me, adding contrasts of black make a layout more masculine and that is what I aimed to do today.

keepcalm-desk

To create the donuts I used Kim’s cut files and cut them on a white card stock from the card stock add on. I also cut an outline of the donuts on the kraft card stock to give them more of a donut-y colour. To add the pop of sprinkles I matted the donuts with one of the Amy Tan patterned papers.

keepcalm-8

The title is one of Kim’s cut files too! I couldn’t resist using it!

keepcalm-2

I decided to work in a somewhat diagonal design. It is certainly one of my ‘go to’ layout designs as I love the look of embellishments and photos flowing across a page.

keepcalm-9

I printed the two photos of my son in wallet size and in black and white so they would coordinate with the colour palette of the layout. These photos were ones I had in my mobile camera roll and perfect for the cut files this month. I matted the photos with a couple of the 3×4″ cards from the Project Life kit.

keepcalm-7

To make this page more masculine I added the pops of black to the page. This was done using some of the cute donut Amy Tan stickers.keepcalm-4

And the cute Dear Lizzy rubber charms, chipboard, clear stickers and Crate Puffy Stickers

keepcalm-5

I also cut a couple of the 12″ scallop strips from one of the papers in the kits. I just love the way it looks, and placing them at the top and bottom of the page brings your attention back into the middle of the page.

keepcalm-1

Thanks for stopping by the blog today. I hope this page has given you some insight into how I may make a page more masculine, whilst staying true to my style.
