Let’s Stay Home Daddy with Tarrah McLean

Happy Easter Hip Kit friends!

It’s Tarrah McLean joining you this Easter Sunday….sadly I don’t have an Easter themed project to share today but I have a cute layout to share instead! I challenged myself to only use the March 2017 Main kit to create this layout!

So I began by choosing some of the pretty papers in the March 2017 main kit, the houses paper by Dear Lizzy is so hard to resist!  I cut a circle in the geometric paper using my Silhouette Cameo and then backed the house paper behind the circle.

My title consists of the Charm Thickers by Crate Paper found in the March 2017 Main kit…I used lots of the Oh My Heart ephemera by Pink Paislee/Paige Evans to layer and embellish around my photo…the exclusive enamel dots enhance the flower ephemera beautifully!

My niece is soooo photogenic! I am so glad I have her cuteness to scrapbook now! This photo of her with her Dad was taken when she was visiting me…..I bought her this cute outfit she is wearing and I wanted to get some cute shots of her!

Thank you so much for stopping by the Hip Kit Club blog today! I hope I have inspired you to pull out your March 2017 Main kit and create something pretty!

I hope you and your family enjoy a safe and Happy Easter!

Follow your DREAMS – BEA Valint

Hello everyone! BEA back today sharing another layout using the beutiful 2017 January Hip Kits. I just LOVE the exclusive wood veneer phrases in this Kit, and can’t resist to place one of them in focus on my layout. I wrapped thread around the letters and picked up some pretty Pink Paislee ephemera feathers and tied to the wood veneer.

I started my background with cutting out some heart shapes from Fountain card stock. After this I hand stitched around the hearts with thread in many colors. I trimmed stripes out of some patterned papers from the Kits, and backed the shapes with them. Have you seen the lovely tearaway stripes on the exclusive patterned papers? I also used them on my layout  they are perfect for this technique! I just love the colorful and fun result!

Finally I layered some pieces of ephemera behind my photo, trimmed the card stock and place my layout on a Take Me Away patterned paper from the December Kit.

This was a lot of fun to create! I hope it gives you some fun ideas to try with your Kits! Happy Weekend! BEA

The Beach with Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone!

It’s Tarrah back with you today and I am excited to be sharing another layout that I have created using the January 2017 Main and Add-On kits!the-beachMy Mum knows me so well, she knows how much I love these beach huts, so when she was travelling in Wales, UK last year, she was at the beach and there were loads of them! Of course she took a photo for me to scrapbook!the-beach-detailTo go with the theme of my photo, I decided to cut a large triangle from the exclusive triangle paper to replicate the triangle in the roofs of the beach houses. I cut it out by hand and then machine stitched around the edge to add some texture. I also added a thin strip of the coral cardstock down the left side to bring that coral colour out a little more.  the-beach-detail-2I added lots of the cork embellishments from the American Crafts ‘One Canoe Two’ brand plus lots of the ephemera from the Moonstruck collection by Pink Paislee. The enamel triangle shapes also from the One Canoe Two brand were perfect to use with this paper and went with my theme perfectly too!the-beach-detail-3Thank you so much for stopping by the Hip Kit Club blog today! I hope you will pull out your January 2017 Hip Kits and create something pretty?! Why not give a design like my layout a try?

Happy creating!

Like What?! Colorful Layout | Jessica Fabiano

Yeeeah so you know how it is, sometimes there’s something you experience or realize – or hear, or do, or say, or…and all you have left to say is: Like what?! Geez! Too long a story, anyway, let’s get back to the layout. (There’s also a process video below).

I am sure some of you know how I work by now. I need colors. Colors make me smile- there’s barely a pastel layout that I made that I truly truly love, colors just speak to my heart. But I don’t want to neglect the pretty papers that we got, so I decided to use a lot more patterned paper than I usually do, that’s why I punched out some patterns with a circle-punch and glued them down randomly. Did you see the turquoise roses? I made them using the Heidi Swapp teal metallic paste that’s included in the color kit. I mixed the paste with turquoise acrylics and went over a rose-stencil using a palette knife – then I cut it out and yay! My own rose-ephemera!

I also scribbled in some gelato circles – really messily and not really caring about the look; I find that that’s the kind of look I want. Did you see? I colored in the fabric thickers from the embellishment kit! Careful, random owl-eyes in the next picture. (O_O).

We know details have a lot of power! I used the tiny washi strips almost on top of each other or next to each other to enhance their effect! Love those, they were a lot of fun to use. I also used some lime and bubble gum pink colored homemade mists – my newest passion: DIY mists

Have a look at my process video to watch how I created this layout:

And here’s a list of the products I used:

  • “Frolic” paper strip, exclusively designed by Kimberly (main kit)
  • Project Life foiled frames (main kit)
  • Vellum heart stickers exclusively designed by Kim (embellishment kit)
  • DIY Fabric Thickers (Embellishment kit)
  • Heidi Swapp Structure Paste (Color Kit)
  • Colored Cardstock (Cardstock Kit)

Thanks for joining me today,

Using Rub-Ons and Documenting January 2017 | Adrienne Alvis

Hello, Hip Kit Club fans! It’s Friday and I have two projects to share with you as we head into the weekend!

First up, I have my Project Life spread for January 2017 that I created using items from the January 2017 Project Life Kit

I’m going to continue to use a 9×12 album for my spreads this year and I’m also sticking to a monthly documenting schedule. I printed my photos off from my home computer and placed them in the various 3×4 slots to begin my process.

I used several of the HKC exclusive Project Life cards from the January 2017 Project Life Kit and layered a few of the 1 Canoe 2 Hazelwood Gold Foiled Icon stickers on a few of my photos to add some dimension without adding a lot of bulk to the pockets.

I also layered a few of the Pink Paislee Moonstruck ephemera pieces (available in the January 2017 Main Kit) on a couple of the journaling cards and layered some puffy stickers on top of them. I really love the colors of the journaling cards this month, don’t you?

I kept the right side of my spread cohesive with the left by using the same color scheme and by placing my embellishments on the journaling cards in a visually balanced design.

And here’s a look at my full spread for January 2017…

Next up, I have a layout that I created using the January 2017 Hip Kits to share…

I was really inspired by the lovely butterfly rub-ons from 1 Canoe 2, but I wanted them to look more dimensional on my layout so I placed them on a piece of vellum and fussy-cut them out. I also carefully bent their wings up a bit so they would look as if they were fluttering across my page.

I also used the 6×6 stencil from Carta Bella and the Heidi Swapp Metallic Texture Paste in Teal from the January 2017 Color Kit to create the houndstooth design on the background patterned paper from 1 Canoe 2.

I layered lots of the ephemera pieces from the Pink Paislee Moonstruck collection around my photo and placed several of the 1 Canoe 2 Hazelwood Printed Cork Shape pieces (available in the January 2017 Project Life Kit) on my page for a little color and texture contrast.

Be sure and check out the process video for this layout below…

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you have a great weekend!

Follow Your Dreams | Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone, happy weekend!

It’s Tarrah McLean back with you and this week I am sharing a new scrapbook layout I created using the stunning January 2017 Main and Add-On kits!

As soon as I saw those amazing One Canoe Two rub-on butterflies from the Hazelwood collection…I knew exactly what design I wanted to go with this week! I used up a whole sheet of the butterfly rub-ons, rubbing them all onto white cardstock first and then individually fussy cutting them all out! I started placing them inside my heart at first but then I quickly decided I liked it better with the butterflies following the heart shape instead. I added a couple of the feathers from the Pink Paislee Moonstruck ephemera pack also.

Watch my process video below to see how my layout came together….

I machine stitched around the heart shape, making sure to go through the butterflies at the same time. I then curled up the wings of the butterflies for dimension.

The Hip Kit Club exclusive wood veneer title ‘Follow Your Dreams’ was perfect for this layout of my niece out in the garden just wandering around and exploring. I also added the little ‘Wander More’ puffy sticker from the Pink Paislee Moonstruck collection as it was so fitting to this layout! A few extra small embellishments finished off my layout…I wanted to keep most of the focus on the photo and the pretty butterfly heart!

I hope you have had a chance to create with your January 2017 kits? If you haven’t yet, why not give this idea a try? I would love to see what you create! Tag me @tarrahm on Instagram when you share your creations and I will be sure to leave you some love!

Thank you so much for stopping by the Hip Kit Club blog today!

Happy creating!

Hello, 2017! | Adrienne Alvis

Hey everyone! I’m sharing a Project Life spread and my first layout using the January 2017 Hip Kits with you today…

First up, I created a title page for my January 2017 Project Life album using the January 2017 Project Life Kit!

I’m doing a 9×12 album size again this year and will continue to document my spreads monthly. This format worked very well for me last year and was a huge timesaver! Plus, this size also helps me keep my albums down to just one a year, taking up less (limited!) shelf space in my craft room. As you can see below, I chose several of the HKC exclusive Project Life cards from the PL kit and layered some lovely embellishments from Pink Paislee and from the American Crafts One Canoe Two collection on top of them.

I chose to use a few recent family photos for my title page and layered two of the Heidi Swapp Instax Golden chipboard frames that are available in the January 2017 Main Kit on top of the smaller photos. The rose gold effect looks stunning paired with the blues and pinks that I used for my color scheme!

Next up, I have a layout that I created using one of this month’s cut files (available here and a subscriber perk!) as the base for my design.

I cut out the cut file using my Silhouette from a piece of the Pink Paislee Moonstruck patterned paper #11 that’s available in the January 2017 Paper Kit and layered it on top of another piece of patterned paper from the American Crafts One Canoe Two collection.

I placed my photos on top of the cut file that I elevated using some foam dimensional adhesive and then placed several of the flower ephemera pieces from the Moonstruck collection by Pink Paislee around the photos of my daughter and my nieces that was taken on Christmas Day.

For an even bolder effect and to add some extra dimension, I fussy-cut flowers from the January 2017 Leaf and Flower Printable sheet and layered them around the existing flower pieces. I scattered a few of the HKC exclusive Frolic vellum heart stickers around the cut file for an added pop of black and white.

I just love how this layout turned out and how the colors in the photos pop against the mint, pink, and black and white accents! Be sure and check out my process video for this layout below!

Thanks so much for joining me and I hope you have a great weekend!

A Touch of Mixed Media with some layers | Tarrah McLean

Hi there Hip Kit Club friends!

It’s Tarrah McLean joining you today with a new layout using the December 2016 Main and Add-On kitslove-you-1

I tried something a little different from my usual clean style this week by adding some soft touches of mixed media using the Echo Park circle stencil from the December 2016 Color Add-On kit and the Crushed Coral Shimmerz from the October 2016 Color Add-On kit.love-you-1-detail

After the Shimmerz paste was dry, I added a few splats of the Heidi Swapp Sweet Mint mist and also let that dry. I then cut up some of the squares from the Pink Paislee/Paige Evans Take Me Away paper and began to layer them all over my page.love-you-1-detail-2I also added lots of the Take Me Away ephemera as layering pieces behind my photo. My title was created using the white foam thicker words.

My process video is below if you would like to watch how this layout came together!

I chose to scrapbook a photo from my wedding day 13 years..the black and white photo goes so nicely with all the pretty soft colours from the products included in the December 2016 Main and Add-On kitslove-you-1-detail-3

New Year, New Projects! | Adrienne Alvis

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope the beginning of 2017 is treating you well and that you had a wonderful holiday! I’m here with two projects that I created using the December 2016 Hip Kits beginning with a fun layout documenting the ringing in of the New Year…

I used some of the lovely HKC Exclusive patterned paper from the December 2016 Paper Kit for my background and then layered several long, narrower strips of paper from the Amber Star collection vertically down the left side of my page. I also used a few of the lovely December Cut Files that are available for free for HKC subscribers and placed them around the photo of my family on New Year’s Eve.

I re-sized the cut files so I could layer a few of them together and I added one of the HKC Exclusive flair buttons from the December 2016 Embellishment Kit in the middle. I also adhered a few of the Pink Paislee Birthday Bash sequins around it for some color pop.

My favorite part about this layout is the sequin filled “2017” embellishment! To create this, I simply took a small piece of vellum that fit underneath of the “2017” cut file and used my tape gun to cover it in adhesive. Then I scattered some of the confetti sequins from Pink Paislee on my craft table and flipped the adhesive covered piece of vellum over and smashed it on top of the sequin pile. I lifted it up and a ton of sequins covered the adhesive so I could layer the “2017” cut file on top of it using some foam adhesive to give it some dimension.

To complete my page, I placed some of the Crate Paper Heart Day Thickers on top of the sequin embellishment to create my title. I used a little bit of the Shimmerz Paints Shimmeringz spray ink, available in the December 2016 Color Kit, in Concrete for my ink splatters and placed a few more of the confetti sequins around my layout.

The next project that I have to share with you today is my Project Life spread for December 2016…

Even though I do a December Documented album each year, I still like to include a spread in my Project Life album for December. I try to focus on the “everyday” photos that I didn’t use for my DD and I always end up with more than enough to document.

For this PL spread I used items and the HKC Exclusive journaling cards from the December 2016 Project Life Kit. I love the soft colors in this month’s PL kit and the purple and aqua are so lovely paired with the gold and yellow accents!

I cut apart the 5×7 Phrase Cut-Apart sheet from the kit and layered some of the sentiments directly on top of my photos. I also used several of the Pink Paislee Take Me Away collection ephemera pieces to embellish the journaling cards. I also added several pops of gold using the My Mind’s Eye Gold Mirrored Acrylic stickers from the embellishment kit to complete my design.

Thanks so much for joining me today and I hope I’ve given you some inspiration on how to use your December 2016 Hip Kits! Have a wonderful weekend!

Party with the December 2016 Hip Kits | Tarrah McLean

HAPPY NEW YEAR Hip Kit fans!!!

It’s Tarrah McLean back with today and I am excited to share my first scrapbook layout I have created using the gorgeous December 2016 Main and Add-On kits!

I decided to start my layout by using one of the background cut files that designed this month. I cut it from the pretty Take Me Away patterned paper by Paige Evans for Pink Paislee. I arranged  just a few of the triangle strips in both directions and machine stitched them to my layout. I then used one of the exclusive Project Life cards under my photo. This photo is of some of my fave scrappy girls, including fellow Hip Kit designer Raquel Bowman, from a weekend back in June! It was screaming to be used on this layout!

Watch my process video below to see how I created this layout…..

Don’t fall over but I actually journaled a little bit on this layout!! I only wrote  everyone’s name that are in the photo but that still counts as journaling right?

I just had to use that mirrored acrylic ‘Party’ word to form part of my title. The ‘Girls’ word is made up of the gorgeous Pink Paislee/Paige Evans Take Me Away chipboard alphabet included in the December 2016 Embellishment kit. I also had to tuck that cute ‘Wild’ paper clip in under my photo!

I used the Take Me Away ephemera, the My Minds Eye gold mirrored acrylic stickers and the Carta Bella enamel dots all from the December 2016 Embellishment kit to embellishment my layout along with the HKC exclusive wood veneer arrows and phrases from the HKC exclusive cut apart sheet from the December 2016 Project Life Kit to embellish my layout too!

HAPPY NEW YEAR again everyone! I hope you celebrate in style! Best wishes to you all for a happy and healthy Happy New Year!
