A FOND FAREWELL…

Today we are giving a fond farewell to Kali Bertazzon, Amelie Cousin, Ashley Fowler & Kate Kennedy.  Each of these talented girls have created such amazing projects with our Hip Kits over the past year.  I thought it would be fun to revisit some of our favorites as we wish them well in their next creative endeavors.  I am so very thankful for having had the  opportunity to work with each one of them, and that they were willing to share their talent with us over the past year.  I hate to say goodbye, and since I know that I will continue to keep in touch…  I’ll  say see you soon instead!  xo Kimberly

SUNDAY WITH KATE…

Hey y’all, Kate Kennedy here with another layout using the December Hip Kits. I just love the Amy Tangerine Stitching Kit that came in one of the addons, combined with the Dear Lizzy word thickers, you can make some really awesome titles. Living on the Gulf Coast we are only a couple hours away from New Orleans, one of my favorite cities in the world. If you ever visit you must go to Cafe Du Monde and have some beignets and chicory coffee. This is a photo of the beignets and I love how that bold gray and white stripe paper backs the other layers and title. Just a fun, easy design but that stitching adds so much. Do you stitch on your projects? By hand or with a sewing machine? Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out the whole process in the video.

TUESDAY WITH KATE…

Hey y’all, Kate Kennedy here using the December kits again. For this layout I used some leftover patterned paper to create a grid pattern. I love using scraps or already cut up shapes to create something new. I didn’t worry about them being all the same size, just trimmed a little here and there. Added some embellishments and a bunch of those awesome Amy Tangerine rubons, and called it done. How do you use your scraps? To see the whole process including some stitching, check out the process video. Thanks for stopping by and hope you all are having a fabulous holiday season.

SUNDAY WITH KATE…

Hey y’all, Kate Kennedy here with my first layout using the December kit. Oh, how I love love love this kit! Especially the papers! I was completely inspired by a fellow youtubers to create this layout. I took strips of the patterned paper and punched them with a decorative edge. The possibilities with this are endless, you can use any papers and any punches to achieve all kinds of looks. I wanted to highlight all of the lovely patterns and I think this concept really shows in the project. Check out the video for full details on how I created this layout. Thanks for stopping by.

SUNDAY WITH KATE…

Hey y’all, Kate Kennedy here with a really fun and easy layout. First, let me explain the photo and title. This is a picture of my little brother taken by their photographer at an event his band was playing at. The band is called El Divino Nino, hence, the title. I super loved the picture and it was absolutely the inspiration for the colors of the layout. Sometimes a photo just speaks to you and it is so fun to go with it. I love using grey, black, white, and cream with a black and white photo and since it is the holidays and red is my brothers favorite color I added some hints throughout the layout. One of my favorite things about paper is the branding strip at the bottom, with most brands it is a complete 12″ strip of a pattern from the collection. Use them! It’s like a bonus pattern, and perfect for creating the strips along the top and bottom of the layout. Here’s my question this week, well, there are two actually: Do you use the branding strips from your papers? And, do you let photos dictate your colors and design or do you have the products in mind and choose a photo to go with them? Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out the video for details of the entire process!

SUNDAY WITH KATE…

Hey y’all, Kate Kennedy here with another layout using the November Hip Kits. I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving and survived Black Friday;) I love Thanksgiving and I love that it means it is time to put up our Christmas tree. This year we are in a bit of a transition so I am not sure when we will get a tree up. So I scrapped our tree from a couple years ago. This was one of those layouts that took a turn on me. I ended up not loving the original so pulled everything off and started over, keeping many of the same elements. To see the entire process please watch the video, it will all make sense. Does this happen to you and what do you do, live with it, toss it, or try to salvage it? Thanks so much for stopping by and I would love to hear about your process with things go crazy on you;)

SUNDAY WITH KATE…

Hey guys, Kate Kennedy here with another project using the Hip Kit from November and the Add Ons. I love the paper from Elle’s Studio with the graphic grey lines on it so I decided to use it for the background. The title for me is what stands out most in this layout. I got a little excited and glued my photo down without leaving enough room for the title in the thickers that come with the kit, so I dipped into my stash and used some silver glitter thickers from the February Hip Kit. Layered some patterned paper stripes and ephemera pieces and added some splashed of the silver pigment izink to complete this project. You can see the whole process in my youtube video, hope you are staying warm and enjoy this video!

SUNDAY WITH KATE…

Hey y’all, Kate Kennedy here with my first project using the November kit. Can you believe the Holiday season is here already? Where does the time go? I am holding out just a couple of weeks before the full swing of Christmas sets in so for this first layout I wanted to use all the fun teals, reds, and woodgrains in the kit, and of course I have to have some metallic, so silver it is. This week iMovie has had a mind of its own and I could not do a voiceover so instead of fast forwarding and playing music I decided to mix it up a bit and do a real time video. Now, this means two things, its a super long video and you get to experience my ENTIRE process, the good, the bad, and the ugly. So grab a cup of hot cocoa or coffee and I really hope you enjoy the process! See you next week!

SUNDAY WITH KATE…

Hey y’all Kate Kennedy here with my last layout using the October kits. Again I am jumping right in and adding some texture to my background with the texture paste and stencil. I have totally loved doing that this month and love the way the pattern papers look over that subtle background. I kept this one pretty simple using some scraps and ephemera to create the layers and using a subtle paper from Elle’s Studio to back the layout. I am sad to put this kit away because I have loved this one, but, so excited for the November kit and December Documented kit. Have you checked them out yet? What are your holiday documenting plans?

SUNDAY WITH KATE…

Hey y’all, Kate Kennedy here with another project using the October Hip Kit and Add Ons. I wanted to use the scraps from the layout I made last week with the big triangles so I decided to take the left over cut patterned paper and use them as page corners. To add texture to the background I used the Ranger Texture Paste and MFT Star Stencil. I layered some papers under the photo and applied them with a glue gun for a little dimension. I once again used those fabulous gold glitter word Thickers that I just can’t get enough of. I love adding texture or color to a background whether it is plain cardstock or pattern paper, how to you add something extra to your backgrounds? Thanks so much for stopping by, see you next Sunday!
