Scrap it ‘Grid Style’ | Kim Watson

Happy Saturday friends!

I hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you might be on this pretty afternoon.

After the rush of the NSD crop last weekend, I felt inspired to try something a little out of my comfort zone. I thought I’d create a page, ‘Grid-Style’. I find scrapping using this technique is a great way to work in¬†straight lines, with an overall linear page layout, as well as incorporate the beauty of the principle of thirds ūüėÄ

This page was put together using more gorgeous products from the March 2015 kit…I just can’t seem to get enough of it hehe!

Hello Life by Kim Watson

I created this BONUS sketch, based on my page design, for you to use:

@KimWatson @HipKitClub #sketch #12x12

Kim Watson+Hello Life+HKC03

Cutting patterned paper into 2.4″ x 2.4″ squares¬†meant I was able to use many of the¬†paper pieces left over from my¬†other completed layouts. This gave me four rows to play with. Some of the squares were left plain & others decorated with clusters of embellishments for interest.
Kim Watson+Hello Life+HKC04The title was positioned a third of the up the page, on the third square along for perfect balance. Combining a wood veneer title with alpha stickers creates lovely interest as well as texture. Kim Watson+Hello Life+HKC05Please excuse the wonky journaling LOL, I typed straight onto the label & it shifted half way though. Fussy cut flowers from the MME paper add a little something special to the journal tag.
Kim Watson+Hello Life+HKC06

The crate chipboard frames are so cool with the hints of gold foil…perfect for a little photo frame. ¬†Again, fussy cut flowers & small accents clusters help create visual triangles & color balance. I hope you have found this inspiring. Remember to post your work in the Members Forum on Facebook, for us to see.

This kit is filled with wonderful colors, & patterned papers!  If you didn’t get a chance to pick up an April or May Hip Kits, then make sure you stop by the Hip Kit online store & grab one while stocks last!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Lovely | Terhi Koskinen

Hello all, it’s Terhi here today with you! I made a scrapbook layout mixing products from four kits:¬†March Main Kit, March Color Kit,¬†February Main Kit and February Color Kit. march_1 (1)framed There are a lot of things why I love to scrap with ready-made scrapbook kits, but one of the biggest reasons is how smoothly the kits¬†complement each other every month. Like in this layout: Papers are from mainly from¬†March Main Kit, some scraps from¬†February Main Kit, and lots of paints and mists from both¬†March¬†and¬†February Color Kit, and all goes together perfectly! Now that I got my April Kits, I see a lot of ways to add “old” stuff with all my new goodies. march_1 (2) I recorded a video while creating the layout.¬†To the background I used¬†Amy Tangerine stencil (from¬†February Color Kit) along with a big circle stencil to get even edges to the circles. You can find the details of how to create it from the video. march_1 (6)

I hope you’ll enjoy the video!

Have a great day!

Go for Gold & Pretty Pastels | Kim Watson

Hello Hip Kit fans…are you as happy as me that it is weekend? I hope you are able to get a little scrapping time in…because I have a new page to share with you using the gorgeous March kit & Add-on’s.

I know many of you have used up your March kits & are working with¬†your April kits & Add-on’s. Do not fear…I created this¬†page so it could be¬†lifted easily using any of the beautiful Hip kits. Cardstock as a base is so versatile.

What is it about pastel colors & gold accents that make one feel like smiling?

Kim Watson+Dear Life+HPK02 blog

Loving the cute ephemera bits from Pink Fresh. The gold tipped squares from Crate paper make the most gorgeous edge for my photo frame.

Kim Watson+Dear Life+HPK04 blog

Try cutting patterned paper into tag shapes & trim with twine for great subtle texture. Pop dots add great height & dimension for labels & stickers.

Have you thought of filling the pretty chipboard jar with sequins? I love how it adds a touch of girliness to the page.

Kim Watson+Dear Life+HPK06 blog

I find tonal alphas onto similar colored cardstock from the Cardstock Add-on, adds lovely sophistication; stitching adds great definition.

I was so happy to hear that Hip Kits was adding a PL kit too. I adore journal cards & this months kit is filled with fabulous, specially designed cards from Evalicious. They are great as page accents & to write on.

This kit is filled with wonderful colors, & patterned papers!  If you didn’t get a chance to pick up one or the April Hip Kits, then make sure you stop by the Hip Kit online store & grab one!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Two layouts with March Kits| Terhi Koskinen

I have butterflies in my stomach, as it’s time for my first post here in Hip Kit Club blog as a designer. I’m so excited! To make this post even more special, I have two layouts to show you. Other one has a process video, too.

Both of the layouts are made with March Main Kit and March Color Kit.

Terhi

The first layout is made with a huge amount of mixed media. I grabbed¬†Dylusion’s Lemon Zest Spray Ink and¬†flicked some drops onto my white cardstock. Then, to make to color spread, I flicked some water, too. If you are interested about this technique, watch the video below. The same trick is used there too, just with acrylic paint.

Terhi 5

I like to pick up from one to three matching colors to each layout, here the colors are gold and yellow tones, and strong pink. But to add some contrast, I used black ink to make those circles onto the background. Stencils are great way to add ink instead of stamping.

Terhi 6

My other layout featured the¬†March Color Kit, too. I just loved the¬†Distress Pain Dabber in Cracked Pistachio color and I can’t get enough of the stencils we had in the kit.

Terhi 1

Drawing some random circles behind your picture is an easy way to get more attention to it. The circles also¬†brings together everything, so that even all my mixed media effects doesn’t look that chaotic. Super easy, but makes a big difference.

Terhi 3

Not only I used the Crackled Pistachio paint to the background, but I also colored the Freckled Fawn Cork Hearts with it. I added some simple techniques into this process video, but if have any questions about anything, please feel free to ask.

Terhi 2

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

March Pocket Page | Patricia Roebuck

I am so excited to share my first pocket pages with you guys! I am in my fourth year of doing my personal Project Life album and it is my most favorite project I do and the most important to me.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

I have been wanting to change it up the last year or two and finally took the plunge this year. ¬†I do mine monthly now and I also use October Afternoon’s 3×3 pockets. ¬†This change has been wonderful for me. ¬†I pick my photos using Lightroom. ¬†After I do some quick edits, I add the photos to my Quick Collection, then from there, I print in various print sizes I created. ¬† I do an overview of the month, so not every photo I’ve taken throughout the month will make my spread. ¬†I keep it to two pages only. ¬†I’m thinking of starting a separate pocket style album. ¬†That and layouts to fill in more details.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

I used mostly the new Hip Kit Pocket Page March kit.  But mixed in the Color Kit and Embellishment Kit.  Another change of something I have wanted to do for awhile, is keeping my spreads flat.  Paint, stickers, mist, rubons, all of these still add so much detail but no bulk.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

I love a mix of photos showing all of us, our lives.  But I also see this as leaving my mark.  Almost my replacement for my long-lost art journal.  I used the stencil and the mist and paint from the Color Kit, including some of me using my phone or selfie stick.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

I loved using the entire sticker sheet from the Pocket Page kit here.  I just trimmed it down to fit inside the pocket, and added one of the sentiment stickers over it.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

I print some of my photos to not fit the entire size of the pocket, and used the reverse side of some of the cards to apply lines of paint and the used the large circle stencil from the Color Kit.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

So many ways to still add so much texture and interest to your spreads without the bulk.  I used the rubons here from the Embellishment Kit with the labels from the Pocket Page kit.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

For the cards that I used from the kit, I just trimmed down to make them work and then added typing, die cuts, stickers, stitching, etc. ¬†(see my typo…LOL…all good, I know what I meant)

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

The only embellishment that had a little more bulk that I added were the sequins from the kit.  I just stitched them into place over one of the photo overlays from the Embellishment Kit.

March Project Life @hipkitclub @paroe #projectlife #pocketpages #scrapbooking #HipKitMarch2015

Thank you for joining me today and letting me share my personal Project Life with you.

Belly Laugh | Kim Watson

Hey hey crafty friends…how is your weekend going? I hope you are managing to get in some craft time because I have a page to share with you using my March 2015 kit which arrived on Thursday! Yippee!!!

Enjoy Life & Belly Laugh by Kim Watson

When planning¬†this page I started with the photographs. They are¬†from our Easter day photoshoot that went a little off topic rather quickly. The kids were so charged on sugar that sitting still just wasn’t on the cards, so I went with it & the results are epic. We all had a blast…and the results are seriously scrap-worthy. I love each & every blurry photobomb & insane pic; they are real… real life. LOL!

Kim Watson+Enjoy Life+HK02

I decided to add a color cast action onto the photos giving them a more neutral vibe to better coordinate with the papers. This pic is a photobomb of note….I love the reaction of her sister in the right corner…haha!

Kim Watson+Enjoy Life+HK03

It was actually this pretty journal card from Evalicious that sparked my¬†page design. Adding some of the small green alphas from My Mind’s Eye completed the sentence helping it be more conversational.

Kim Watson+Enjoy Life+HK05

Next I cut the ampersand out of the divine string art paper from Crate paper. It became the next part of my title.

Kim Watson+Enjoy Life+HK06

Then I added some of the fab Thickers included in the kit & add-ons completing my conversational title. A Signo Uniball, white pen worked so well on the navy cardstock. I love how it doubles as texture in that corner of the page.

Kim Watson+Enjoy Life+HK04

Next I worked on some little clusters scattered around the page. This one is once again is conversational & adds to the overall conversation of the page & related directly to the photos.

Kim Watson+Enjoy Life+HK07

Cutting a few flowers from the Crate paper & layering them, made the cutest 3D photo corner. Notice how the carefully placed wood veneer accents, flair & word stickers actually read yet another subtitle? I love how this last cluster finishes off the page so nicely.

I enjoyed sharing this project with you, I hope you find it inspirational? Remember to go to the head over to the Hip Kit Club website & grab some of the March 2015 add-on kits still available. You won’t regret it…they are exceptional!

March kit cards | Nicole Nowosad

Good morning Hip Kit fans! Just stopping in this morning to share some super quick cards I made with my March kits!

I usually have lots of little bits and pieces stashed in my kit bags and I really don’t like having them go to waste, so why not make a few quick cards right! Making cards is a really easy way to get the most of your kits – and something useable/giftable too!

hello card

For this card, I used some simple strips of paper and the cloud rub ons from Pinkfresh Studios to create a bit of pattern on the PL card in the PL add on.

hello card cl1

Next, I created a simple banner using one of the Elle’s Studio wood veneers in the kit, along with a sticker from the My Mind’s Eye sticker pack in the PL add on.

love you card

I love the Crate Paper puffy hearts and they are perfect to sprinkle throughout the banner on the card.

love you card cl1

Lastly, I created this card that would also work as a gift card holder ! I added a tag for m sentiment, but you could easily tuck a gift card in there too:

hello

I simply stitched three rows of patterned paper and left the right side of the kraft polka dot paper open, so a tag or gift card can slip in easily!

hello cl1

That’s it for me today! Make sure to pop by later today for some inspiration from Kim Watson!

Concentrated Awesome | Alex

Hi all! When I was younger, I used to feel pretty¬†bad for being short (among the other things!), but as I grew older I learned to be comfortable with who I am and how I look. When I saw this fun quote on Pinterest, I knew I had to use it on a layout. “I’m not short. I’m concentrated awesome.” Ha! Just a fun, little reminder to myself ūüôā

Alex Gadji - Concentrated awesome

I have used the beautiful March kits for this layout. Even though I am longing for the April kits to reach Sweden, I don’t feel quite done with March, so I don’t really mind waiting some more. The kits are so loaded with awesomeness, that I wonder if I am ever going to manage to kill them…

Alex Gadji - Concentrated awesome closeup1

I love mixing different alphas for my titles. For this one I have used the navy stickers from the project life kit and the thickers from the embellishment kit.

Alex Gadji - Concentrated awesome closeup2

Can’t tell you enough how much I love all the gold accents in these kits! (even though they can be horribly hard to photograph!)

That would be all from me this time. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Lucky Me | Nicole Nowosad

Good morning Hip Kit Fans!! I am back to share one last page using the March kits before I crack into April!

This page all started with the PL card from the PL add on kit. I love that quote and it was perfect to use up on one of my selfies I had lying around … ūüôā

lucky me

I have been wanting to play around with paints a little on my page and did so using some new acrylic paints in my stash. The mint green color I used so well with the papers in the  kits РI love the mix of soft and bold patterns! The paint from the Color Add on would also be perfect. I watered the paint down a little and lightly painted my cardstock where I knew my photo would end up.

Lucky me cl2

Once it was dried, I added some of the great Pink Fresh Studio gold rub ons and some epoxy dots. I cut a title on my CAMEO using the vellum from the Paper Add on, and mixed it with the chipboard alphas in the kit.

lucky me cl1

lucky me cl3

I did a quick process video of how this page came together, hope you will check it out :

I hope you are making some time to do something creative this weekend!
