Multi-Photo Flip Book Layout | Zinia Amoiridou

Hello scrappy friends! It’s Zinia here to share with you a really fun technique  to create an interactive multi-photo layout using my April 2017 Hip Kits.

The idea came from a minibook I created a while ago. I didn’t have any rings to bind it so I just used tape to stick the pages together. That’s how I thought about taping some project life cards on my scrapbook page and creating a flip book.

I chose some of my favorite cards from the April 2017 Project Life kit arranged them, spaced them equally and made marks on my background to know where to place them.

I decided to add a strip of pattern paper and a strip of hot pink cardstock to the side for some extra pop of color. I placed my flip book approximately in the center of the page and adhered every card using strips of tape at the top.

I’m really happy that the cards were singled sided so I had plenty of space on the back side to put my photos along with some embellishments.

I mixed embellishments from all the kits but I made sure to avoid very bulky things like the buttons cause I didn’t want the flaps to sit at a weird angle and have too much dimension.

For the rest of the page I kept my embellishments very minimal. I wanted to create a confetti look around my faux flip book so I added all sorts of tiny embellishments along with colorful mist splatters.

In addition to this layout, I want to share with you the finished traveler’s notebook I create for the month of March.

Again I used my most favorite floral paper from the March kits as my cover and added the month and year with some thickers.

This time I mixed a few pattern papers in the pages when I stapled the notebook together. I also added some extra cd pockets to play around with different materials and add more variety.

These notebooks are really the perfect place to use up embellishments that feel harder to use on scrapbook layouts or products you have multiple times. For example I loved this border of tickets on the side of the page.

I also decided to use the numbers from Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection that came in the March 2017 Project Life kit to list some of the highlights of the month.

I really love making these notebook to document the small things every month. In the past I kept struggling to keep up with project life but I think traveler’s notebooks are the perfect system for my monthly memory keeping.

So these are my projects for today. I really hope you enjoyed them and you got inspired to create something with your kits. Make sure to stop by the HKC Facebook page and the HKC Member Forum for even more inspiration.

Until next time, happy scrapping🙂

Mixed media layout using March kit | Terhi Koskinen

Hey Hip Kit Club fans!

Terhi Koskinen back here with you today sharing mixed media layout featuring all the fun products included to March Color kit.

I love getting my hands in to paint. No matter how clean and white my scrapbooking style is, love for painty or gessoed fingers is forever. For this layout I started the background by using pink Self Priming paint from February Color Kit. I didn’t use any brush, palette knifes or other, just fingers and oh how much fun it was! I added the paint to two bigger areas on the page and kept my strokes vertical and horizontal, no round moves. This gave me fun look and rhythm to the painted area.

Ones the paint was dry, which was really soon and this self priming paint dries very quickly, I used the stencil from the March Color Kit and also the yellow paste to have some textures areas on top of the paint. Pink and yellow works perfectly together!

Before just adding the photograph (my sweet husband) onto the background, I created nice little paper cluster with some left over paper slices I had on my worktable from other March kit layouts. Great way to use left overs! Paper cluster and embellishments are all adhered with 3D foam, as I wanted to create shadows on the background. For finishing touches I used thin black marker to draw lines to the thickers and to the photograph. That’s a small and quick thing to do, but makes a big change to the layout, more handmade look.

Hopefully this layout and all details included to it inspires you a lot. If you have any questions, just leave a comment here. Thank you so much for coming here today, have a scrappy day!

Creative journaling idea | Kim Watson

Hello there, Kim here with a cool journaling idea that I am sure you will love!

Love Life by Kim Watson

KimWatson_Love Life_HKC01

Inspired by the flower ephemera from Paige Evans found in the March 2017 kits, I chose paint colors that blended well together. Using gel medium first, then bright paints, I created this fun, artsy circle for the center of the design. I made sure the colors dried intense, to make sure the white text was legible.

KimWatson_Love Life_HKC02

The layers of flowers were raised with different heights of foam adhesive to create dimension. I love how the bronze foil ties bother floral clusters together so well.

Enamel dots positioned at three corners of the page add lovely twinkle & add interest to the paint splatter.

If you were wondering how I managed to write so fluidly around the circle?

This is how I did it:

  1. Cut a circle from vellum to fit within the paint circle.
  2. Decorative scissors make a nice fancy edge.
  3. Place the vellum on a piece of card for stability onto a potters wheel.
  4. Using a good quality white gel pen, write your journaling whilst turning the wheel.
  5. Be careful to allow the rows of writing to dry before writing the next to avoid smudging.

I am so glad you stopped by the Hip Kit Club blog today! I hope you have been inspired to try this cool idea too.

See you again soon.

YOLO | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. I come to You with my fourth page created with March Hip Kits. My April kits are somewhere in the world on the way to my door step but I still have plenty of March goodies to play with. I created this page with dream catcher inspired by three feather stickers from “Little by little” sticker sheet. I wanted to use them in some project earlier but they just didn’t match my layouts because they are quite big. And now, as a feathers  attached to the dream catcher, they are just perfect. You can find Shimelle’s “Little by little” sticker sheet in March Main Kit.

I used pink cardstock from Cardstock Kit for my background. I backed it with one of the “Chasing dreams” papers. I love the pink – yellow color combo. I also fussy cut the roses and other small flowers from Dear Lizzy paper. All the patterned papers are included in both Main Kit and Paper Kit.

Roses with laves created beautiful layer under my picture. I chose the funny one taken with special app because it matches great with my YOLO title. And I wanted to use this golden YOLO from acrylic stickers by Pinkfresh Studio for a while. Those stickers and included in the Embellishment Kit.

I repeated the golden accents in the corner using another acrylic sticker along with banners from “Little by little” stickers sheet. My beautiful feathers also have a gold foiling on them.

My last steps was adding two cute cameras from “Lovely day” ephemera pack by Dear Lizzy. You can find them in Project Life Kit.

That’s all for today. I hope I inspired You to use a dream catcher theme on some of Your pages. Thank You for stopping by and see You in few days on Facebook.

XO Anna

Thursday Inspiration: A Few of Our Favourite Things!

Hey everyone! We hope you’re all having a wonderful week so far! Today, we have 3 takes on the things we loved the most that came in our kits for March and April.

Cara: Patterned Papers

I’m a scrapbooker as well as a planner girl. Patterned paper is always my favourite when I scrapbook, there are so many possibilities! I thought that I would bring that over to my planner. I absolutely adore fussy cutting, give me a good movie and some sharp scissors and I’m a happy camper.

I grabbed a couple of my favourite papers, (from Dear Lizzy for American Crafts), in my March main kit, and cut out words and flowers to make clusters in my spread for this week.

I took a few more papers from Shimelle (American Crafts) and Paige Evans (Pink Paislee) and added squares and the word ‘PLAY’ about the pages. A few die cuts from Paige Evans (March Main Kit) and Dear Lizzy (March Project life kit) and some enamel dots (March Main Kit) were all I needed to finish off the spread.

The planner clip was made from the same Dear Lizzy paper as ‘dreamer’ and ‘love’. I made it so that it can be moved along the page to mark the current day.

When I made it, I realised that if I was fussy cutting, it would be smart to cut a second piece at the same time so that I would have a matching piece for the back to cover the paperclip. To keep them from moving around, I used a binder clip and moved it only at the end when the only side I had left to cut was the one under the clip.

Happy Planning!

Jessica: All The Florals!

Hey guys! I wondered what I go for most when I scrap and undoubtedly it’s pink as a color, mixed media for the technique, and flowers for the patterns/embellishment. The April kit really has some lovely chipboard flowers to scrap with. Little spoiler: I was assigned a no-flower task later, I know exactly why that happened (lol). Anyway, here’s the layout I’m going to share with you today:

I used my floral lace cut file that you can find in the march downloads; I changed it up a little to how I liked it better and then cut it with my Silhouette Cameo.

To color in the cut file I used my new Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor palette which I love! The colors are so vibrant and pretty. So yes, the good life for me definitely consists of pink, watercolors and flowers! What about you?

Thanks for joining me and check out what Ashley came up with!

Ashley: Pink Fresh Acetate

For my project, I’ve created a Project Life spread for you all with a focus on one of my favorite products from the kit (the Pinkfresh Acetate).

I started by cutting some of the patterned papers down to size to fit in my pockets. I also used one of the HKC Exclusive PL cards from our Project Life Kit.

I used some of the alphas from Pinkfresh Studio (Embellishment Kit) and the My Mind’s Eye “Palm Beach” Collection (PL kit).

I lightly embellished with pieces from the “Live More” collection, but also from the “Oh My Heart” collection.

One of my favorite things in this kit is the acetate pieces! I love the colors and the designs. I wanted to keep things simple, therefore, I chose approximately one piece per card, although there are photos without them (they just wouldn’t have shown up great on those particular photos).

On the title card, I sewed the acetate piece for more texture but I also love how subtle this yellow and pink tag is on the bright pink card.

I hope y’all enjoyed this process and gained some inspiration!! 🙂

Off the page | 3 cards | Nicole Nowosad

Hello everyone! I really like to make use of all the little leftover bits from my kits. Everything in the kits are so pretty, I just can’t help using every last piece. Why waste perfectly good paper right?

I decided to make a quick set of cards using some leftover bits of paper in the kits and love how quickly they came together and really stretched my supplies.

cards full

I started out with some flat white cardstock from my scrap pile. I added a few quick swipes of mint colored paint and once dried, I went to work building my simple cards. It’s always good to have a few extra cards in my stash!

First I created this super simple card with some scraps of the No.24 Pink Paislee paper in the kit.

xo card

I adhered various little strips of paper across the top portion of the card and adhered them down with a little machine stitching.  I also had some extra die cuts from the exclusive cut files for March and added some leaves behind the flowers from the Pink Paislee diecut/ephemera pack in the kit.

xo cl1

I love how the enamel dots just fill in pops of color on the rest of the card! Next, I created this easy card onto another mint green painted cardstock piece.

thank you card

I had to use some of that pretty Dear Lizzy washi tape as patterned paper on the card front and it looks amazing on the painted background! Man, I love that stuff. Such a pretty washi tape and looks great on a lighter background. I simply added another die cut flower, a border punched scallop strip and a Shimelle pennant sticker from the kit.

thank you cl1

I created one last card using more of that lovely washi tape in the kit and more of the pretty diecut flowers from the diecut/ephemera pack.

dream on card

This time, I used some really small bits of paper and layered them in a stitched mess on the front of the card. The pretty rose gold flower (that looks black here.. boo) looks great mixed with the pretty pink floral background for the card.  I couldn’t resist adding more of those die cut stems from one of the March exclusive cut files again too.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are inspired to kill your kit and get ready for the April kit!

Interactive layout and project life /Felicity Wilson

Hello. Felicity back here today with a fun interactive layout using the March 2017 kit. Tell me one thing you love about your layouts or other people layouts?

Is it creating texture on your pages?

Is it reaching out to the computer screen hoping you can just touch that layout?  Tell me we have all done that!! LOL

Being able to tell a story with the papers that reflect your photo?

Is it that awesome feeling when you finish a page and think, WOW, I did that? I made that?

For me its a yes to all those questions. This page is no exception.

I wanted to create something interactive. I had the packaging laying on my table from the Dear Lizzy flags that come in the embellishment kit. It gave me the idea of creating a little flap over the photo to add a little interaction. I thought it would be fun, in the sense, when this page is in the 12 x 12 album that you come across this page and get to interact. Am I making sense?

So I started out with the Shimmerz Paste-eez and the stencil from the colour kit. I then started building up layers with my photo and lots of 3D foam dots to add dimension. I fussy cut more those adorable houses from Dear Lizzy paper add them in. I wanted this reflect the photo of being home and lazing about in bed.

Then I created my little flap. I kept the embellishments minimal because I wanted to see the photo peeking out. There are so many nice sentiments from Pink fresh in the project life kit, so I add those as part of my journalling on the page.

To adhere the flap I used 3D foam dot and an exclusive enamel dot to cover up the 3D foam dot.

Lastly I created small cluster at the bottom to make the layout flow and for balance.

Hope this inspires you to try something different with your layouts and your kit.

Just wanting to share with you  a project life page using the March 2017 Project life kit from Hip kits.

When there is a lot of colour in your photos and you don’t want to change the photo to black and white, try and add some neutral colours to your page, like I have done with  the White Project Life card.

This just ‘tones’ the page a little and not be so overwhelming.

How cute are the embellishments in the kit? Those Pink fresh puffy stickers and ephemera pack from Shimelle. They would suit any theme Project life themed page.

Let’s Stay Home Daddy with Tarrah McLean

Happy Easter Hip Kit friends!

It’s Tarrah McLean joining you this Easter Sunday….sadly I don’t have an Easter themed project to share today but I have a cute layout to share instead! I challenged myself to only use the March 2017 Main kit to create this layout!

So I began by choosing some of the pretty papers in the March 2017 main kit, the houses paper by Dear Lizzy is so hard to resist!  I cut a circle in the geometric paper using my Silhouette Cameo and then backed the house paper behind the circle.

My title consists of the Charm Thickers by Crate Paper found in the March 2017 Main kit…I used lots of the Oh My Heart ephemera by Pink Paislee/Paige Evans to layer and embellish around my photo…the exclusive enamel dots enhance the flower ephemera beautifully!

My niece is soooo photogenic! I am so glad I have her cuteness to scrapbook now! This photo of her with her Dad was taken when she was visiting me…..I bought her this cute outfit she is wearing and I wanted to get some cute shots of her!

Thank you so much for stopping by the Hip Kit Club blog today! I hope I have inspired you to pull out your March 2017 Main kit and create something pretty!

I hope you and your family enjoy a safe and Happy Easter!

Sweet Girls – Go green with Michelle

Have you thought about going green?  Today, I am here to show you just how easy it is to use green on your layouts!  The focus of my layout was to highlight a particular colour.  The March 2017 kits are so full of lots of different colours but one of my favourite colours to work with is ‘greens’.  From aquas, to mints to forest greens there are so many different options in the March 2017 kits that you can use.

Sweet Girls

When I am creating a layout with just one main colour focus, I start off by finding all the little bits and pieces that are in that colour theme.  So I started looking through the 2017 March kits and picking up all the green papers and embellishments that I thought would work on my layout.

First off, I was drawn to the the Paige Evans no 24 patterned paper as those little squares are just begging to be fussy cut out.  I loved all the different designs on each of the little squares but because they are all the same colour it doesn’t make my layout too busy or over the top.  The squares and my smaller photos really started me off on a grid style design which really allowed me to add lots of fun embellishing touches too.

Sweet Girls detail 1

Once I got my general design laid out on my cardstock it was really about embellishing those little squares and creating interest and dimension. I have used a couple of project life cards from the March 2017 Project Life Kit on my page, I have mat my photos of my girls on one of the mint ones, added the MARCH word to the side of it and also cut out the triangle that sits at the bottom right hand side of my page. The ‘Sweet’ word on the Shimelle Little By Little patterned paper just fit my title perfectly.

Sweet Girls detail 2

The squares on my grid design created their own little areas for me to add embellishments to and there was lots of opportunities to add detail with all the embellishments in the kits.   I finished off with some black elements which I felt helped tie in my black and white photos and some of the gorgeous HKC exclusive enamel dots.

Sweet Girls detail

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, I hope I have inspired you to create a monotone layout with the Hip Kits and maybe give ‘green’ a go too.
