Awesome, Happy day | Kim Watson

Hello friends,Kim here!

Who doesn’t have great photos & memories of happy times with friends…? Today my page is about just that…colorful memories & what better way to do that than with the gorgeous May Hip kit & add-ons!

Awesome, Happy Day by Kim Watson

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @chickaniddy @americancrafts @rangerink @pinkpaislee @xyroninc #scrapbooking #layout #12x12 The packs of loose embellishments included in theMay Embellishment kit from Pink Paislee & Evalicious were fabulous for creating little embellishment clusters. I used three clusters when designing my page layout, creating wonderful balance within my visual triangle.

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @chickaniddy @americancrafts @rangerink @pinkpaislee @xyroninc #scrapbooking #layout Inspired by the gorgeous American Craft’s washi tape booklet included in the May Embellishment kit, I decided to make a handmade flower.

How I did it:

  1. Cut a variety of washi tape strips from the booklet.
  2. Cut the strips into x12 shortened pieces to make the petals.
  3. Cut x3 patterned paper circles, the biggest at the bottom. Allowing a little of each pattern to peek out created a lovely layering, interesting centre for your flower.
  4. Attach the petals on the back of the layered centre…and you are all done.

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @chickaniddy @americancrafts @rangerink @pinkpaislee @xyroninc #scrapbooking #layout Using the stencils & paint from the May Color Kit I added subtle texture & color interest around the page. Red splatters are a wonderful way to add bright areas of color.
@HipKitClub @KimWatson @chickaniddy @americancrafts @rangerink @pinkpaislee @xyroninc #scrapbooking #layout Next add journaling to one of Evalicious’s journal cards. I always buy the Project Life kit, even thought I don’t actually do any project life. The journal cards are so fabulous as well as the smaller packs of embellishments. They really add something a little special to my projects.

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @chickaniddy @americancrafts @rangerink @pinkpaislee @xyroninc  #scrapbooking #layout

Once again I have enjoyed sharing my project with you. I hope it has inspired you in some way to try something new. If you are interested in securing a July kit & add-ons…make sure you have your order in so not to be disappointed. You are going to LOVE everything about it.

Have a wonderful weekend further!!

Sweet & Sassy | Kim Watson

Happy Saturday friends!!

Kim here, with a new page using the gorgeousMay Hip kit & add-ons! Inspired by the Evalicious journal cards…I designed a graphic feel page with pops of bright colors on a neutral black & white spotted background!

Sweet & Sassy by Kim Watson

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @americancrafts @shopEvalicious @chickaniddy #scrapbookingkit #summercraft #layout #papercraft

I am so thrilled with how this page turned out. I am generally nervous about mixed media, not wanting to mess my page up with my clumsy attempts at adding paint & ink but this time it actually worked. I think the smaller stencils in the Color Kit teamed with daubers is what did the trick & I love how the mixed media looked under the vellum layer.
@HipKitClub @KimWatson @americancrafts @shopEvalicious @chickaniddy #scrapbookingkit #summercraft #layout #papercraft Making the most of the May Color Kit & stencils…I started by adding painted texture to my page, layering the stencils using the yellow & green paint daubers, I added both solid colors & doodled outlines.
@HipKitClub @KimWatson @americancrafts @shopEvalicious @chickaniddy #scrapbookingkit #summercraft #layout #papercraft I then created interesting, layered clusters around the page. Trimming down the red Evalicious journal card made a fabulous sentiment tag. As did her cute puffy stickers layered onto a circle label with a tiny stamped sentiment. The stamp set which has loads of very small sentiments & accents words comes in the May Color Kit too. I am finding them perfect for a reluctant stamper like myself. They add super texture & interest to the page.

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @americancrafts @shopEvalicious @chickaniddy #scrapbookingkit #summercraft #layout #papercraft The rest of the journal card became a label, layered with green one, a wood veneer accent & stamped images,  I created a pretty cluster in the bottom right corner too.
@HipKitClub @KimWatson @americancrafts @shopEvalicious @chickaniddy #scrapbookingkit #summercraft #layout #papercraft Using my trusty typewriter, I journaled onto a piece of  trimmed Chickaniddy paper, stamped with a few images to make it more interesting.

Yet more evidence of an amazingly well thought out kit from Hip Kits. The perfect mixture of patterned papers, accents & embellishments, make designing scrapbook pages like this one a breeze. Make sure to secure your July kits. they are almost sold out.

Enjoy your weekend friends!

Two layouts | Terhi Koskinen

Hello there! It’s Terhi here with two layouts using May Hip Kits. I know I said last time that those would have been the last ones with May Kits, but life happens and here I am with another two. That’s actually one of the reasons why I adore Hip Kit Club Kits: Even when I’ve created over ten layouts and bunch of cards with one single kit, I still have so much of products left that I can create a few more. Hip Kits are huge, at least I think so.

The first layout today was inspired by the little lady in the picture. Even tough she’s dressing purple and turquoise, I wanted the layout look pink and yellow. And as the photo is shaped weirdly, I decided to use a lot of straight lines to calm the layout down, and added one circle shaped embellishment to catch your attention. That’s what I love the most, using tricks to swindle your eye 😉

For the background I chose to use yellow Paint Dabber from May Color Kit, and pink Paint Dabber from February Color Kit. It’s actually another thing I appreciate with Color Kits, you can collect a little storage of the products each month and use them together to create unique layouts and mixed media creations.

Below is a process video recorded while making this layout. Enjoy!

Here’s the second layout for today. Inspired by my silly, wonderful, goofy, handsome, funny and wonderful husband.

I wanted to create a masculine but light and playful layout and green Paint Dabber from May Color Kit was perfect way to start it. I simply pressed it against the white cardstock to create random circles here and there, the result reminds me of a stencil work but it’s way more loose. All papers are from May Kits, too, I used all grays and whites. And to highlight the picture, I grabbed the Chickaniddy Alphas from the May Project Life Kit and added some randomly to the background. That was fun! It gave a lot of interest, but dimension too!

And as I started with green, I wanted to continue with the same line – the ampersand is painted with green Paint Dabber too.

That’s it for May Kits! Next week I’m back with June layouts (and videos), can’t wait to show you what I created with June Color Kit! It will be so much fun, messy and colorful!

Thanks for popping in today!

Life is Sweet| Kim Watson

Happy weekend friends,Kim here!!

I hope where ever you find yourself, that you are having the BEST time?! I know I am, playing with my May Hip kit & add-ons. I am really enjoying the vibrant patterned papers & embellishment combinations!!

This week I thought I’d focus on the gorgeous Pink Paislee goodies from the #citrusbliss collection included in the kits.

Life is Sweet by Kim Watson

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @pinkpaislee #ppcitrusbliss #scrapbooking #12x12 #layout  @shopEvalicious

These photos are from a few years back, I find scrapbooking older photos as well as current ones, refreshing & keeps my albums fresh & interesting.

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @pinkpaislee #ppcitrusbliss #scrapbooking #12x12 #layout @shopEvaliciousIt was the citrus slices paper that sparked the idea of using circles in this design, which in turn sparked the idea of using some of the citrus cut-outs to make flowers. They add great 3D interest to my circle clusters.
@HipKitClub @KimWatson @pinkpaislee #ppcitrusbliss #scrapbooking #12x12 #layout @shopEvaliciousThe cute stamp set from the May Color Kit & stencil…were a fantastic way to add subtle texture to my page. I layered the stamped images in soft colors around the page making sure to keep them understated, not to distract attention away from the focal areas.
@HipKitClub @KimWatson @pinkpaislee #ppcitrusbliss #scrapbooking #12x12 #layout  @shopEvalicious

As usual Evalicious’s wood veneer sentiments are adorable & fabulous on any page. For added color accent, I painted ‘Life is Sweet’ with lime green & magenta with stunning results. It really draws attention of the page.
@HipKitClub @KimWatson @pinkpaislee #ppcitrusbliss #scrapbooking #12x12 #layout  @shopEvalicious

Tell me the #cirtusbliss chipboard accents aren’t adorable…. I mean who doesn’t love a tiny chipboard pineapple & decorative frames?

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @pinkpaislee #ppcitrusbliss #scrapbooking #12x12 #layout @shopEvaliciousMore circle & embellishment clusters along a diagonal grounding strip give the left side of the page a little pizzaz..finishing things off nicely.

Yet more evidence of an amazingly well planned & thought out kit from Hip Kits. The perfect mixture of patterned papers, accents & embellishments, make designing scrapbook pages a breeze. Make sure to secure your June kits, & July kits. they are almost sold out.

Enjoy your weekend to the max!

XOXO | Irit Landgraf

Hi there! Irit here with a new layout using the summery May kits. This layout started with Ashley Horton’s free cut file that was posted last weekend on the blog and member forum on Facebook, and when I saw it I immediately thought it would be perfect for my wedding anniversary photos. I cut it out of cardstock from the cardstock kit and used it as a stencil. Here’s the final result-

12*12 layout created by Irit Landgraf using the May 2015 Hip Kit Club kits and a cut file by Ashley Horton #hipkitclub @hipkitclub #scrapbookingkit

I used the two paint dabbers from the color kit to create my background on one of the patterned papers from the main kit. The paper has a light grey ledger print, and I love that little added texture and detail.

2015-06-13 10.35

So simple and so effective! The rest was easy peasy. I used some scraps of patterned paper behind my photo and to cut out some XOXO, using the pieces from the cut file as my template.

2015-06-13b 10

The rest is just lots of embellishments from the main kit and the embellishment kit.

2015-06-13a 10

I cut out those cute little hearts from one of the Dear Lizzy patterned papers. And since I wanted a splash of pink, I used Amy Tan’s Thickers from April’s embellishment kit as well.

There’s also a process video showing how I created this layout-

Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you feel inspired to use some cut files like stencils! Have a great day!

Today & Happy | Terhi Koskinen

Hi everyone! It’s Terhi here with two layouts made with May Main Kit and Add-ons. Other one includes a process video, too.may2 (1)

The first layout is made with May Main Kit, Project Life Kit and Color Kit. I wanted to show some easy techniques with Lagoon Mermaid Distress Ink from the Color Kit. Of course you can use it as regular ink with stamps and adding ink through a stencil, but as Distress Ink are water soluble, you can make so much more. Watch the video and I’ll show you what I mean.

may2 (4)

Once I got the mood of using inks, I took the stamps from May Project Life Kit and started to stamp with black ink. Remember, if you use several inks on the top of another you need to know how they react. In example, I used the water soluble ink first and let it dry completely, and then added the other ink. If my black ink would have been water soluble and the layers underneath it would have been wet I would have had one messy page!
may2 (3)

Digging in to May Project Life Kit gave me another great found. Label stickers from October Afternoon! First I thought they’d be something that ends up to my drawer, but then I got idea of using them as layers in my paper cluster. I cut them half and add between paper layers to give more interest. I just love the effect, and as they’re white with green and blue lines they match perfectly with my blue color scheme.

Here’s the process video.

More colorful inspiration…

…is here with my second layout, and last one with May Kits features supplies from May Main Kit, May Embellishment Kit, May Color Kit and stamps from May Project Life Kit.

The idea for this layout came from lovely Chickaniddy 6×6 papers from the Embellishment Kit. I just loved the colors with lovely patterns on those papers. I cut them to thin strips and layered the strips to the corner where I wanted to have my picture. This was super easy trick to add a lot of interest and dimension to layout!

I hope you feel inspired and find the video above interesting! Happy crafting!

Happy Birthday to Me | Kim Watson

Hi Kim here. Today I am excited to share my 1st page using the fabulous May kits. The citrus colors are so fresh & funky. I am really enjoying the paper & embellishment combinations!!

Happy Birthday to Me by Kim Watson

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @shopEvalicious @pinkpaislee @americancrafts #hipkitclub #may2015 #layout #12x12 #scrapbooking I love using patterned paper as a background for most of my layouts which means I end up mixing a few designs on one page.  The coordinating patterned papers from the May 2015 Main Kit make doing that so easy. I was particularly drawn to the vibrant striped paper & ended up using it to determine my over color palette. KimWatson+Happy Birthday+HKblog02

I have some rather grainy photos from my surprise birthday lunch that I really wanted to scrap…so chose this layout that uses x4 smaller sized photos. Making them black & white with high contrast, crisped them up nicely.
KimWatson+Happy Birthday+HKblog03The wood veneer embellishments from Shop Evalicious are so cute…but I needed a color accent in this top corner. Paint did the trick..a little dauber from the May Color Kit did the trick. I love how it turned out.
KimWatson+Happy Birthday+HKblog04Then came the extra fun part…the cluster on the left of the photos. I mean really, how does one choose which of the cute embellishments to use, the main kit & the embellishment add-on kit are bursting with options. I settled on items from the amazing Pink Paislee pack & Evalcious stickers which always rock my world. I mean…check out the vibrant colors?!
KimWatson+Happy Birthday+HKblog05

Then came the journaling… easy-peasy when you have a pile of cards from the May Project Life Kit by the ever talented Evalicious & a typewriter. I love the quality & finish of them….they give the page such a classy feel.

I hope this page has been inspiring. Have a wonderful weekend further.

May Kit Cards | Alex

Hi there! Alex here bringing you a couple of cards made with gorgeous May kits.

Alex Gadji - May cards

For both cards, I have used the Kraft cardstock from the cardstock kit as a base. The first card was inspired by the numbers on the vellum. I really wanted to use number one as in #1. I attached a piece of vellum to my cardstock with one of the Dear Lizzy washi strips from the embellishment kit.

Alex Gadji - #1

I have used different alphas included in the main kit to build up my sentence. I wanted it number 1 to stand out a little bit, so I used a black pen and a circle made out of one of the elements from the Citrus Bliss ephemera to frame it.

Alex Gadji - #1 detail'

My second card was inspired by the two tags from the Citrus Bliss ephemera included in the main kit. They were my starting point.

Alex Gadji - Happy birthday

I decorated them with a Dear Lizzy acrylic bow from the embellishment kit and a tiny little heart from the PP Citrus Bliss ephemera. I placed the “happy birthday” Evalicious wood veener between the two tags to make it just a little bit more interesting.

Alex Gadji - Happy birthday detail

That would be all for this time. Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Ooh La La | Adrienne Alvis

Good morning and happy Sunday Hip Kit fans!  It’s Adrienne here today with a little schedule switch-up. Kay and I swapped days so she’ll be back here on Tuesday morning. I have a cute layout to share with you that I created using the May 2015 Hip Kits

I love to use patterned paper as a background for most of my layouts and sometimes more than one design ends up on my page. I thought it would be fun to use three coordinating patterned papers from the May 2015 Main Kit for this particular layout of my daughter posing for me right before her big dance recital last month.

To keep the patterned papers from overwhelming my layout and competing with the overall design, I chose two papers that were a bit more subtle and one that was a bright pop of color. I placed geometric-shaped pieces of each paper on top of a piece of 12 x12 card stock until I was satisfied with the design and then I stitched them together using my sewing machine.

I used several of the frames and pieces from the Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss Chipboard Accent Pack available in the May 2015 Embellishment Kit around my page and placed my photo in the largest frame from the pack.

I love to scatter bits and pieces that coordinate so well with each other around my pages and the Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss Ephemera pack helped me achieve that look on this particular layout.

Thanks for dropping by this morning!  Kay will be back here on Tuesday morning so be sure and check out her post. Have a wonderful day!
