Hello by Nicole Nowosad

Hey everyone! Nicole back on the blog today sharing one last page with the February Hip Kits! I used mainly the Main Kit on this page and challenged myself a little bit with this one.

Hello cl1

Truth is, I am a patterned paper person. I can’t even imagine a page without some patterned paper on it. Well, except now, I can.  I only used one piece of patterned paper on this page and that was just for the base of the layout. For me – that is unusual as I am not a mixed media person with the ability to jazz up a simple sheet of paper into an artistic creation!

Hello cl4

Instead, I used ephemera as my jumping point. Sometimes you just need to let the kit do the work for you – in this case, it was the Crate Paper Chasing Dreams Ephemera Pack that did the work for me.

The great thing about using an ephemera pack like this – it all just goes. The guess work is totally removed from the whole layout planning process and you can just play!

Hello cl3

To see how my page came together, I created this process video for you! Sit back and enjoy!

It’s once again time for our weekly sketch inspiration and we were given this delightful sketch to work with 🙂 We do hope you join in and share how you interpret the sketch; be sure to share your creations in the Facebook forum 🙂

Sunshine by Nicole Nowosad

Hey everyone! Nicole here on the blog and happy to be back with Hip Kits! I am happy to share my first layout using the February kits.

I was inspired by the woodgrain background in the kit and wanted to add a subtle quilted look to my page using different patterned paper in the kits.

It is a pretty simple layout, just some paper cut triangles added to the woodgrain Crate Paper background and stitched in place.

I couldn’t resist fussy cutting out lots of butterflies from the pretty Crate Paper in the kit and added some stitching to the centers to hold in place.

You can see how the entire project came together here, in this process video I created using the February kits.

I hope you are inspired to do a little fussy cutting, stitching and patch work on your layouts! See you again really soon!

Tween | Nicole Nowosad

Hello hello! I am always excited to kick off the weekend on the blog and I am here today to share another page with the February Hip Kits! I loved this particular kit(s) so much, I was inpsired to keep creating with it!

I used Ashley’s cut file for February for this page:

I love using a large background cut file for my page as I near the end of a kit. I am able to use up a lot of my bits and pieces I have left over from other projects! It is also a great way to bring the colors and patterns in the kits together.

Tween cl2

I always sneak the PL add-on into my pizza box each month and although I don’t scrap PL style, I always find a way to sneak some of the exclusive PL cards onto a project or two. This month, I used one of the card as a base for my title.

I have one last February kit project to share on Facebook next weekend, but after that it is all March baby! Can’t wait to dive in 🙂

Love Together | Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, Raquel here today to share a layout I created using the February Hip Kits with you. I decided to scrapbook another wedding photo and I am so pleased that I am slowing making my way through the never-ending pile of wedding photos I want to document.

For this layout I wanted to make a feature of the heart cut file from Nicole’s exclusive set. To do this I created my own background file by cutting and pasting the heart in many different sizes and then welding them together. I also kept some of the heart files individual too.

I backed the cut file hearts in the remaining piece of the patterned paper by Pink Paislee that was used in a strip on the right side of the page. I also used the gorgeous pink chevron paper from that same C’est La Vie collection to back the cut file.

Some of the hearts were backed in vellum too, I just love that translucent look it gave to the cut files, a bit like a frosted window. together-raquel-5

For the title I used a combination of the Maggie Holmes Bloom clear stickers and the Amy Tangerine word thickers. I added the title directly to my photo as there was so much negative space. The heart was also from the clear sticker pack. together-raquel-6

I added an embellishment cluster to the top right of the page. It contained a combination of a cut file heart, a couple of punched hearts using a gold card stock from my stash, a MH clear sticker and a couple of the gorgeous bright pink Simple Stories enamel dots. Love the pop of pink they bring, and they really accentuate the pink from the Pink Paislee patterned paper. together-raquel-4

To the right of the photo I added one of the gold foil Amy Tangerine frames. I used it more as an embellishment and layer than its intended purpose of a frame, but I am really happy with how it turned out.

Below the main title I have a grouping of embellishments. It contains a Pink Paislee tag, a Heidi Swapp post it, an Amy Tangerine sticker, the gorgeous fringe heart and it topped with the Mirror Pink Paislee word and a Shimelle chipboard piece. How beautiful is that mirrored word? It looks like it was made for that heart. together-raquel-1

Incase you had any more questions about how this layout came together I have created a process video for you all

I hope this layout has inspired you to get creating with your kits!

The Best Ever | Nicole Nowosad

Hello hello!! I hope you are enjoying a happy weekend and getting some crafting in ! I just received my January kit the other day, so today I have one last December kit share with you today.

I was lucky enough to take a trip to CHA a few weeks ago and truthfully, I go there to see my friends (ssh, don’t tell my husband). It is so special to have created friendships through this hobby and CHA is a perfect excuse to meet up.

The Best Ever

We took this quick selfie one day at the show and I wanted to save that memory so I chose it for this page. I used Ashley’s sketch as a starting point for this page – was inspired by all the blocks for photos and instead, used some of the frames in the kits backed with pretty patterned papers. I love the fun word sentiments and layering some of the diecuts, rubons and enamel dots around those frames.

The Best Ever cl2

I used some scraps for this page too, waste not, want not! I used a scrap of that pretty yellow floral paper for the background and even a leftover diecut piece of pink cardstock layered to my background. I finished off the page by trimming out one of the frames from the patterned paper from the kit and added some watercoloring along the edges and over the words to create a title area.

The Best Ever cl1

Super simple and fun! I hope you are enjoying your December kits and are currently diving into January’s too!

Hello Love | December Kits | Michelle Whorwood

Hi everyone, Michelle here with a layout using the fab December kits.

hello love banner

I have used the December Sketch as a starting point for my layout with cutting the heart shape designed by Nicole Nowosad from the December Kit downloads.  To give the heart some pop I added some of the glitter washi tape under some of the triangle shapes.  I’ve also used some of the wee stars that were left over from the cut file I used on a previous layout. Finally, I had lots of fun, covering some of the wood veneer pieces in the glitter tape as well to add a bit of bling to my page.

Close ups:

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, the January 2016 kit has just landed on my doorstep all the way here in New Zealand and I can’t wait to share some more inspiration with you next time.

Turning 3 | December 2015 | Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, Raquel Bowman here with a layout using the December kits. I have created this layout documenting my little girls third birthday. The December kit has been perfect for documenting this event with its creamy and soft pink tones which match the princess party theme of the birthday beautifully.

The pictures were from a little photo shoot I did with my daughter the morning of her party. In these images she was trying to show me that she was three on her fingers, but as we know our ring finger doesn’t like to stay up so she was giggling that it kept falling down. It was a cute little moment and I am glad I snapped it.

I layered the ephemera from the Maggie Holmes Shine collection and some of the cut outs from one of the patterned paper in a vertical direction. I stuck to cream, pink and mint tones. I added a pop of silver in too when embellishing as I just had to use those Freckled Fawn stickers.

turning three-raquelbowman-3

The cut file running horizontally across the page is one I created from one of Nicole’s cut files for December. I decided to weld three of the hearts together to create a feature. I then backed them in a patterned paper and adhered them to the page with foam tape.

The three hearts and three photos worked well across the page. I highlighted the middle photo by applying that to the page with foam. I also backed it with a more neutral pattern from the 6×6 paper pad.

A page is not complete for me without a date or journaling so they were added with stamps and typewritten text.

I hope I have inspired you today to get creating with your December kits!

2016 2 celebrate |December 2015 | Michelle Whorwood

Happy New Year Everyone!

Michelle here with my first post for 2016 and I am super excited to share a layout with you featuring the fab December 2015 Kits.  For this layout, I decided to use the “Star Cut File” designed by Nicole as a mask with texture paste.  I enlarged the cut file first to enlarge the stars and placed the mask above and below where my photo was going to be on the mint card stock from the Cardstock Add On.  Before the texture paste was completely dry I added a piece of the vellum to the top of the Mint cardstock to soften the colour a bit before I added more detail to my layout.

2016 CELEBRATE banner

My layout is a photo of my daughter and I at a New Years Party which was a masquerade disco so I just loved how the gold frame and gold crown from the Maggie Holmes Shine Chipboard fitted the theme of the event perfectly.  I also cut out the word ‘Celebrate’ from same cut file and used it as part of my title.  I’m going to have to confess, the Glitter Washi tape was not my favourite item in the kit at first but once I started to use it – I found lots of cool ways to add this Washi to my layouts. Here, I hand cut some little triangles and added them as part of embellishment clusters.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, I can’t wait to share some more of my creations with you all in the coming weeks.
