mixed patterns – Justyna Skowron

Hello all! How are you all feeling after Christmas? I rested a bit and I am full of energy! The new December 2016 Kits are full of energy too, so I think we make a great pair ūüėÄ I totally love them and the mix of yellow and pink – it’s my favorite combination I think! So, here’s the layout I prepared with December 2016 Embellishment Kit and December 2016 Main KitDecember 2016 Main Kit.

Under the photo you’ll see some mixed patterns which are taken from the patchwork paper from Pink Paislee. The squares perfectly match each other. I decided to use it and combine the mix of the patterns with the mix of the flowers in the bouquet from the photo ūüôā

December Kits are full of little sequins, dots and enamels! They are soo adorable! I decided to splash some yellow ink as well.

I really hope you like it! Take care and have a wonderful week!

December Documented Pages and a Layout Using the December 2016 Main Kit Only | Adrienne Alvis

Hello, everyone!¬†I can’t believe Christmas is almost here, can you? Everyone is really excited around my house for the big event and I’m excited because I get to share some more of my completed December Documented pages with you, as well as a layout using the December 2016 Main Kit!

I shared the first part of my DD album earlier in the month so be sure and check out that post here. Once again, I used items from the December Documented 2016 Kit for my album, along with some other items from the November 2016 Hip Kits because they coordinated so well with the DD kit!

For this next round of pages in my DD, I used a few larger photos to fill the pockets and embellished directly on top of them using some of the number die cuts and puffy stickers from the ‘Tis The Season collection by Kim Watson.

I also used quite a few of the HKC Exclusive phrase stickers which are available in the November 2016 Embellishment Kit to accent some of my photos and to add extra emphasis and color to my embellished journaling cards.

Instead of including our family Christmas card in my album (it was too big to slide into a pocket), I took a photo of it next to the envelopes I had just addressed before I sent them  out to family and friends. This also helped me document the actual act of sending them out, so it was a win/win!

I also made sure to include a screenshot of the crazy cold weather we experienced last week in my album which I embellished using one of the die cut phrases from the ‘Tis The Season collection.

Next up, I have a layout to share with you that I created using the December 2016 Main Kit only…

I started by using the wood grain HKC Exclusive patterned paper piece from the Amber Star collection as my background and then fussy-cut the windows out of the Pink Paislee “Take Me Away” collection patterned paper so I could layer them around my photo.

I also used several of the Take Me Away collection ephemera bits from Pink Paislee to embellish around my page and I added some dimension and height to those pieces using some foam adhesive.

My favorite part of the this layout is the tiny tassels that I placed under the banner ephemera piece! I love how they add so much texture and dimension to my page!

I completed my design by adhering several sequins from the Pink Paislee Birthday Bash collection around my page and by journaling on one of the ephemera pieces from the Main Kit.

Make sure you check out my process video for this layout below and have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

Vellum Shaker Layout | Jessica Fabiano

Hey everyone! It’s Jessica Fabiano with you today, I hope you’re doing fine. November has brought us fabulous colors and fun things to play with. I knew I wanted to use the sequins up as much as I could – I love sequins. So I decided to make a shaker layout with the vellum that came in the cardstock kit. Unfortunately, the camera doesn’t pick it up too well, you know the deal with vellum. But I know it’s there and you can hear the sequins! So much fun! My theme for the day was to use a cut file. I went with the gorgeous 12 days of giving cut files you can find on the Hip Kit Club page – it’s the day 11 file.

As you can see, I decided to cut my file on white cardstock and added it on top of the vellum. The vellum is added on top of white cardstock as well. I left an open space so I could add the sequins before I closed it with regular glue.

I just love this cut file! Kimberly has been inspired by a file that beautiful Bea has recently released. It took the cameo quite a while to cut all the details but it’s definitely worth the wait. Look at the fun splatters! Those are DIY mists – yup! I love them and I make most of them myself using acrylics. If you use acrylics instead of ink, the consistency of the mist will be a lot more opaque and thick. Ink gives a more translucent finish. You decide!

I added more embellishments. I still had a bunch of sequins left, so I glued them down on random sections. I also added the pink thicker-stars that came with the exclusive thicker set. I sometimes forget that we can use regular thickers as chipboard embellishments, too!

The “Snowflake” embellishment is a crate paper chipboard piece that came with the wood embellishment pack. It actually says “Snowflakes”, but I chopped off the “s” to make it work. I colored the sparkly silver thickers with a black alcohol marker – that way I can customize all my thickers! And hey, sparkly thickers in any color! Doesn’t that sound good?

Close up for the eye! Can you see the tiny tiny washi strip there? It’s just the leftover print from the regular strip – still usable!

I hope you’ve had fun joining me today. See you next week on the FB page!

xoxo, Jessy

You light up my life | Anna Komenda

Hello Hip Kit fans. It’s Anna here with my last inspiration with April 2016 kits. I squeezed them like a lemon creating about 12 projects. And I still didn’t killed them.

My inspiration to create this layout were june cut files designed by Kim Watson. This bulb is just adorable. And I really like the inscription too. I had that ode to use vellum and create kind¬†of a shaker pocket. I filled it with glitter and sequins. I used one of the Amy Tangerine’s “Better together” papers from main kit to cut my bulb. I wanted it to be light and airy.

I didn’t have much choice with my background papers as I already used most of them in my previous projects but this Elle’s Studio “Little momets” grey paper was just perfect. Luckily I had a paper add-on kit so I could stretch number of projects created with the kits.

Oce again I used butterflies from Maggie Holmes “Bloom” collection paper. I fussy cut them and placed them on my page. Wooden jar from MME wood veneers set from Project Life kit was also a perfect match with lovely picture of my daughters. I took it more than three years ago but it feel like it was yesterday. Time flies so fast. Too fast.

Acrylic little stars from Embellishment kit are so cute. I had few left so I added them on my title. I love the texture they add to the page.

That’s all for today. My may kits arrived yesterday and now I will dive into them with a real pleasure. I have so many ideas what to make with them so stay tuned for the next week.

See You on Facebook.

xoxo Anna

My Heart Is So Full Of Joy | Adrienne Alvis

Good morning everyone! I have my first layout that I created with the November 2015 Hip Kits to share with you today…

I used the beautiful patterned paper from Pink Fresh Studio that’s available in the December Documented 2015 Kit¬†as my background and layered a few cut file trees (available here), glitter snowflake foam stickers, and sequins down the length of the image in the right side of the paper.

The photo on this page is one of my favorites! It’s the photo I used on our Christmas cards last year and I just adore my children’s expressions and the fact that it was actually snowing when I told them to bundle up and smile for the camera. I stuck another cut file on the right side of the photo (it’s also part of my page title) and placed another tree cut file on top of the “o” and added a few sequins to finish it off.

I also added a few punched snowflakes around my page and layered gold enamel dots in the center of each one for extra dimension.

This page came together fairly quickly due to the fabulous patterned paper design and the coordinating embellishments that are available in the November 2015 kits!

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you have a great day!

Love Every Moment | Ashley Horton

My August Hip Kit & Add-On Kits arrived this past Wednesday afternoon and by Saturday morning, I had already completed three layouts!¬† I just couldn’t wait to start creating with all of the awesome papers and embellishments included this month!¬† The layout I’m sharing today, was actually my third layout, but I decided to share it first, because I had time to create a new process video to go along with it.¬† First up, here’s a look at the layout!

Love Every Moment

I love that we receive a variety of Thickers and/or letter stickers in each¬† month’s Kit.¬† I thought it would be fun to create an element on my layout, that focused on the different Thickers in this month’s kit.¬† I used the Woodland Gold Thickers from the Embellishment Kit, the Wildflower Thickers and Wonder Corrugated Thickers from the Main Kit, and the Goodness Thickers from the Project Life Kit.¬† I started by cutting the heart shape on my Silhouette Cameo, and then I repeated the word Love with the various Thickers, by adhering them to White Cardstock from the Cardstock Add-On.

Love Every Moment1

Before layering the Studio Calico Amelia patterned paper over the White cardstock, I hand stitched around the outside edge with Embroidery Floss.¬† I didn’t want to cover a lot of the Thickers showing through the heart shape, so I placed my photo on the left hand side and then created embellishment clusters around the photo, above the heart and on the right hand side of the heart.

Love Every Moment2

I finished the layout by completing my title with the Goodness Thickers and the Wonder Corrugated Thickers.  I love to mix up different Thickers sets, to get different looks and textures on my layouts!  And if you would like to see the full process for this layout, you can check out my new Process Video!

This would also be a great technique for using those leftover letters on your Thicker sheets that never get used.  You could paint over the letters once you had them placed on the background or just leave them in their original color for a fun and funky look on your layout!  Make sure you stop by the Hip Kit Website to check out all of the goodies that are included in the August Hip Kits!  I think you will love what you see!

Pass The SPF | Adrienne Alvis

Good morning everyone! ¬†I’m here today with another layout I created using the July 2015 Hip Kits. This page was inspired by all of the bright, summery colors in the July kits and of course by the main activity we’ve been enjoying together as a family this summer…

We didn’t travel anywhere for vacation this year so we’ve been making the most of staying at home all summer by swimming at my mother’s pool a couple of days a week.

I printed my photo a little larger than I normally do and added the gold chipboard sentiment sticker “sitting poolside” directly on the top left side of my photo. I also added one of the adorable mason jars from Crate Paper available in the July 2015 Embellishment Kit¬†on the other side of my picture so it helped balance out my design. I slipped a few gold sequins inside of the jar and added another chipboard sticker to the top to make the jar look like a cute little umbrella drink ūüôā

I used a card from the July 2015 Project Life Kit for my journaling and placed another chipboard banner sticker on top of it after I typed my words. I also used one of the wood veneer arrows from Heidi Swapp and painted it with the coral Distress Ink from the July 2015 Color Kit to coordinate with my page and wrapped some twine around it to give my layout more texture.

I placed my title near the bottom right-hand corner of my page and layered a die cut and chipboard flower sticker together for some dimension. I love how the chipboard pieces add so much dimension and depth to my pages…they’re one of my favorite embellishments to use on my projects!

I hope you have a lovely day and thanks for dropping by this morning!

Sweet | Nicole Nowosad

Good morning and welcome to the weekend on the blog! I have one last April Hip Kit project to share before I start cracking into my May kits!

I am a huge fan of the color in the April kits and wanted to use a lot of the scraps I had lying around for my page. I really don’t like wasting a bit of pretty paper, so I backed those papers in the kit onto a diecut floral background I designed.

Here is how it turned out:

I love the variation of colors on the flowers – and kept the rest of the page pretty simple. I cut out one of the diecut frames from the Amy Tangerine diecuts and added some paper to the back, replacing the previous phrase with a chipboard word from the Crate Paper chipboard sheet.

Sweet cl1

I am all about waste not, want not, so this helped me use up a lot of those pretty little bits of paper I have been secretly hoarding !

Sweet cl2

Sweet cl3

Ok, that’s it for me! Now, I am off to crack open my May kits ! It’s a long weekend here in Canada… so off to enjoy some family time too! ¬†See you next Saturday ūüôā
