Let’s Stay Home Daddy with Tarrah McLean

Happy Easter Hip Kit friends!

It’s Tarrah McLean joining you this Easter Sunday….sadly I don’t have an Easter themed project to share today but I have a cute layout to share instead! I challenged myself to only use the March 2017 Main kit to create this layout!

So I began by choosing some of the pretty papers in the March 2017 main kit, the houses paper by Dear Lizzy is so hard to resist!  I cut a circle in the geometric paper using my Silhouette Cameo and then backed the house paper behind the circle.

My title consists of the Charm Thickers by Crate Paper found in the March 2017 Main kit…I used lots of the Oh My Heart ephemera by Pink Paislee/Paige Evans to layer and embellish around my photo…the exclusive enamel dots enhance the flower ephemera beautifully!

My niece is soooo photogenic! I am so glad I have her cuteness to scrapbook now! This photo of her with her Dad was taken when she was visiting me…..I bought her this cute outfit she is wearing and I wanted to get some cute shots of her!

Thank you so much for stopping by the Hip Kit Club blog today! I hope I have inspired you to pull out your March 2017 Main kit and create something pretty!

I hope you and your family enjoy a safe and Happy Easter!

Sunshine by Nicole Nowosad

Hey everyone! Nicole here on the blog and happy to be back with Hip Kits! I am happy to share my first layout using the February kits.

I was inspired by the woodgrain background in the kit and wanted to add a subtle quilted look to my page using different patterned paper in the kits.

It is a pretty simple layout, just some paper cut triangles added to the woodgrain Crate Paper background and stitched in place.

I couldn’t resist fussy cutting out lots of butterflies from the pretty Crate Paper in the kit and added some stitching to the centers to hold in place.

You can see how the entire project came together here, in this process video I created using the February kits.

I hope you are inspired to do a little fussy cutting, stitching and patch work on your layouts! See you again really soon!

make it masculine | Jana McCarthy

Hi and Hello, welcome back to another Layout from me, Jana!
This week theme “make it masculine”, well as a mom of 3 boys it should be easy for me, right?! But no, it was not as easy as i thought! I started with some mixed media leaves (i´ll have a little DIY Video on my YouTube channel very soon) and a 4×12 paper strip and some Texture paste. I used the Stencil from the ColorAddOn Kit… colored it with a lot of watercolors!

wildandfree1

I grabbed mostly all of the green and blues DieCuts and Elements and started to build some clusters around my Photo! The photo is from 2005 and shows the middle one, very dirty but oh so happy! He was always crowling on the ground and eating all kind of things *lol
Mommy had a busy job stopping him to eat to much dirt and sand 😉

Wild & Free was the only title that came into my head, but i think it´s perfect!
I played with the Main Kit, the PL Kit and the Embellishment Kit from October 2016

I had so much fun with this Layout and i really love how the “Wood” strip turned out!
Here is my process Video for you to watch!

Happy Today | Ashley Horton

Hi guys!  It’s Ashley, and I’m here today to share one more layout with you, using the February 2016 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  Even though I’m not a Project Lifer, I still love a good grid design.  And PL cards are perfect for creating a grid design on your layouts.  That’s what I love about Project Life cards…they can be used in so many different ways!

Happy Today

I used White cardstock from the February 2016 Cardstock Add-On, as the base of my layout.  Then I arranged several Project Life cards from the February 2016 Project Life Kit with one of the cut files from Nicole Nowosad to create the grid look for the background.  I love that this arrangement makes my layout look like a Project Life spread, even though it’s a layout.

Happy Today1

I used each of the Project Life cards, as a spot for my embellishments from the February 2016 Main Kit and the February 2016 Embellishment Kit.  I love the contrast of the Amy Tangerine Foam Thickers, with the bright colors of the PL cards.  And I just had to take inspiration from fellow Team member, Nancy Damiano, and use the Simple Stories enamel dots to fill in on of the open spots of Nicole’s cut file.

Happy Today2

If you’ve been eyeing the Project Life Kits each month, but don’t do Project Life, I hope I have inspired you to look for other ways you can use the Project Life cards.  And the PL Kits are always filled with lots of other amazing goodies each month!  Head over to the Hip Kit Club website and take a peek at what’s available in the March 2016 Project Life Kit…as well as all of the other March Kits!

Better Together | Ashley Horton

Hey Hip Kit fans!  It’s Ashley, and I’m on the Blog today with a new layout, using the February 2016 Hip Kit with one of the February cut files!  I used the cut file that I designed for this month, to create a tone on tone look, with pops of color from the patterned papers included in the February 2016 Main Kit and the February 2016 Paper Add-On.

Better Together

I cut the Yakety Yak cut file from White cardstock, included in the February 2016 Cardstock Add-On.  Then I backed each of the talk bubbles with different patterned papers from the kit.  When I placed the cut file on the White cardstock background, I titled it, instead of adhering it straight.  I like the effect the tilt adds to the layout design.  I also added my photo and title on a tilt to follow the line of the cut file.

Better Together1

I used a mix of embellishments from the February 2016 Embellishment Kit and the February 2016 Project Life Kit.  I didn’t want to cover a lot of the die cut background, so I clustered embellishments around the photo and title.  Then I added the fun phrase stickers from Dear Lizzy, included in the Embellishment Kit, to the spaces in between the cut file.  I brought in more color, with the Simple Stories enamel dots, and placed them at the beginning at each of the sticker phrases.

Better Together2

You can pick up the February cut files, by visiting the Hip Kit Club website.  If you are not a Kit Subscriber, you can download the free cut files by signing up for a FREE account on the Hip Kit website.  We do have exclusive files also, that are only available to Kit Subscribers.  So make sure you head over and check it out, whether you are a monthly Subscriber or just a Hip Kit Club fan!

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful | Ashley Horton

Hi everyone!  It’s Ashley and I’m back on the Blog with you this week, to share my first layout with the February 2016 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits!  I seriously always make my first layout, the day my Hip Kit arrives in the mail.  There are just so many products, that I can’t wait to use!  My must use product for this layout, was the Delighted patterned paper from Maggie Holmes, included in the February 2016 Main Kit.

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful

I knew I wanted to use a lot of the pattern, without overwhelming the photo and embellishments.  I decided to cut the paper along the divisions between the chevron design and arrange it over a piece of White cardstock from the February 2016 Cardstock Add-On.  I loved the motion this created on the page, and the White space for adding my photo, title and embellishments.

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful1

I just had to find a way to incorporate the amazing Maggie Holmes Fringe Hearts, that are a part of the February 2016 Embellishment Kit.  I can assure you, if there is a heart within 5 miles of my scrap area, it is going to be used on a layout!  And I made these even more heart-y by adding a Studio Calico wood veneer heart from the February 2016 Project Life Kit, right in the center of the fringe heart.

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful2

I used most of the embellishments in the White space on the layout, because I didn’t want to cover up the pattern that I love so much.  But I felt like it needed a little touch of something else, so I splattered Black Color Shine over the layout (I always decide to do this at the end, so if you’re like me, make sure you cover your photo).  Then I added a few of the Simple Stories enamel dots down the center of two of the patterned paper strips.

If you haven’t had a chance to pick up the February 2016 Kits, then make sure you head over to the Hip Kit Club website.  You definitely want to get your order in, before it sells out!  And look for the reveal of our March 2016 Kits, coming up on February 15th!!

Love You | Ashley Horton

Hi everyone!  I’m back on the Blog this week, to share a new layout, using the January 2016 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.  I also used our January Sketch, as inspiration for my layout.  I decided to go a little more clean and simple on this page…or at least clean and simple for me!

Love You

HK Jan2016 Sketch

I used White cardstock from the January Cardstock Kit, as my background.  I really wanted the photos and MME Journaling Cards from the January Project Life Kit to stand out.  The Journaling Cards were a perfect match to the January Sketch.  I started the layout by placing the cards, and then added machine stitching around the edge of each one.

Love You1

Next, I added my photos and title.  I also kept the title simple and mixed the Crate Paper Love wood veneer from the January Main Kit, with the Studio Calico wood veneer alphas from the Project Life Kit.  I finished the layout, with several embellishments, placed throughout the grid design.

Love You2

We would love to see your take on the January Sketch, so if you use it to create a layout, make sure your visit the Hip Kit Club Member Forum on Facebook and share it with us.  And while you’re there, check out our Weekly Challenges and play along for the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to the Hip Kit Shop.

These Are My People | Ashley Horton

Love is in the air…especially since my January 2016 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits arrived two days ago!  Theses kits are filled with gorgeous love themed products, that are perfect for your Valentine’s Day projects or just for everyday.  I had to use the Blush patterned paper from Crate Paper, that’s included in the Main Kit and the Paper Add-On Kit, for my background.  The geometric pattern and mix of colors is so amazing!

These Are My People

I knew I wanted to add a whimsical look to this paper, with the mix of embellishments included in the January Kits.  I used the center points from groups of the triangle shapes to add some chipboard pieces, stickers and brads that are included in the January Embellishment Kit and in the Main Kit.

These Are My People1

The Studio Calico wood veneer alphas from the Project Life Kit and the Crate Paper Thickers from the Embellishment Kit, were the perfect mix for creating my title.  A lot of times, I place my title close to my photo, but I wanted to utilize the geometric design and spread things out a bit more on this layout.  For a touch of contrast, I sprinkled a bit of Black Color Shine from my stash, around the layout.

These Are My People2

If you’re feeling the love, like I am for the January Hip Kits, make sure you stop by the Hip Kit Club website, if you’re not already a subscriber.  I think you will fall in love with this month’s Kit and want to grab it, before it’s all sold out!

Framed | Nancy Damiano

Let’s start this week of back to the routine, with a roundup of favorites! I love this Crate Paper frame paper from the December Kit. The first thing I pictured was little squares filled with pattern and color.
JanFrames

The story here is about my son at age 9. His likes, favorites, personality, friends and pop culture from his childhood. I love to make a time capsule like this for each year of his life. JanFramesDetail

The trick to making the frames pop is to mix up dimensional items (flair and chipboard), flatter pops of color like patterned paper and just a little bit of stitching (like here in the yellow plus signs.
JanFramesOVerview

I love when a nice clean design comes together quickly. All of the bits and pieces in the December Kit and Add-On made it a snap!

Shine Darling | Ashley Horton

I’ve had my eye on the Glimmer Acetate Sheet in the December 2015 Paper Add-On Kit, and I just had to use it on my layout this week!  I still have so many goodies from the December 2015 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits, so I thought it would be fun to layer the acetate sheet over the December cut file, and then add my photo and some embellishments over the acetate sheet.

Shine Darling

I cut the Heart Strings cut file from the Divine patterned paper included in the December 2015 Main Kit.  I liked the ombre effect of the wood grain fading into the light melon Pink color.  Once the cut file finished cutting, I placed it over a sheet of White cardstock from the December 2015 Cardstock Kit.  Next I placed the Glimmer acetate sheet over the die cut hearts and stitched around the outside edges to attach it to the back ground cardstock.

Shine Darling1

For the top layer of the layout, I added my photo and the Best Day Ever wood veneer from Main Kit, to the center of the layout.  I wanted to have several different dimensions, so I embellished with Chipboard pieces from the Main Kit and Bits from the December 2015 Embellishment Kit.

Shine Darling2

I completed my layout by adding a title, using the Beautiful Phrase Thickers from the Main Kit.  I also placed a few of the Gold Thickers around the layout to balance out my design.
