Celebrate SUMMER | Kim Watson

Can you believe it has been a week already since I was last here. It is a sure sign summer is here :).

Talking about summer, I have a new page to share with you using the April kit & add-on kits. When designing it, I was inspired by vibrant SUMMER colors, & happy memories of our teen on the beach.

When sorting through the pretty papers from the April kit, I fell in love with this piece from Webster’s Pagers, but wanted to use both sides. I really didn’t want to cut up x2 pieces of paper for one page, then had a brainwave…why not cut it on the diagonal & flip the one half over allowing me to get the best of both worlds by sticking it together back into a single piece of paper

@KimWatson @HipKitClub @websterspages @americancrafts @HeidiSwapp #summercrafts #layout #12x12 #scrapbooking

Making the most of the fabulous printed chipboard accents…the double sheet from American Crafts is filled with great sentiments as well as tags, labels & other die-cuts.
@KimWatson @HipKitClub @websterspages @americancrafts @HeidiSwapp #summercrafts #layout #12x12 #scrapbooking I cut my photos into circles to compliment the happy circle vibe that suits the April kit & add-ons so well. Layering a B&W photo over a color photo, adds great visual interest to the layout.
@KimWatson @HipKitClub @websterspages @americancrafts @HeidiSwapp #summercrafts #layout #12x12 #scrapbooking A metal circle die made the mini square card from Webster’s Papers, into a cool circle accent, the perfect addition to my embellishment cluster.

@KimWatson @HipKitClub @websterspages @americancrafts @HeidiSwapp #summercrafts #layout #12x12 #scrapbooking I love how the uber trendy wood veneer sentiment square from Heidi Swapp, gives emphasis to the sentiment card, as well as adds textural dimension to the page.
@KimWatson @HipKitClub @websterspages @americancrafts @HeidiSwapp #summercrafts #layout #12x12 #scrapbooking Come now…tell these alpha stickers & chipboard die-cuts from American Crafts aren’t awesome!!! The variety of fonts, substrates & colors…make for wonderful conversational titles like mine.

Yep…another wonderful week of scrapping with my Hip Kit. I love that there is not much thought needed to put these pages together because Kimberly solves the hard work by putting the perfect mix of papers, accents & embellishments together. Kits definitely take the angst out of product mixing..this April kit & add-on kits is a perfect example.

Happy crafting this weekend friends…I look forward to seeing you next week!

Enjoy these Moments |Kim Watson

Hi crafty friends,

@HipKitClub @KimWatson #scrapbooking kit #April2015 #12x12 #layout @americancrafts @websterspages Inspired by the chevron paper by Webster’s Papers, I decided to play around with diagonals for this page.

@HipKitClub @KimWatson @americancrafts @websterspages #scrapbooking #layout #scrapbookingkit

Lining up the paper strips with machine stitching & photos, give strong directional design to the page. Stitching through the chipboard alphas make sure they are secure, as well as add great texture.

The April papers are amazing! The colors, the patterns… everything Kimberly chose for this kit is so perfectly coordinated, it makes sense to mix them together!

@HipKitClub @KimWatson

What’s not to love about these uber cool printed wood veneer shapes, epoxy & die cut circles? Layering them together created a wonderful little accent cluster. Those absolutely fabulous thickers from American Crafts are to-die-for, stitching them onto the page not only makes sure they don’t fall off but adds great texture too.
@HipKitClub @KimWatson

http://http://@KimWatson @HipKitClubMix those Thickers up for a wonderful conversational title…also stitching them through adding continuity to your design.

Well that’s all from me today!  Be sure and stop back by tomorrow for even more creative inspiration.

Have a wonderful afternoon!

Happy Mother’s Day! | Irit Landgraf

Hi! Irit here with a new layout created with the April kits. I really love the colors and patterns this month, so I used plenty of those in my layout! Here it is-

12*12 layout created by Irit Landgraf using the April Hip Kit Club kits #hipkitclub @hipkitclub #scrapbookingkitI used lots of patterned papers from the main kit, different brands and collections, and yet they work so well together! One of my favorite things about playing with a good kit is getting that eclectic look that is not too matchy matchy.

2015-05-13b 13.34

I used the pink Thickers from the embellishment kit, and the white&silver ones from the main kit to create my title. I layered them to create this fun whimsical look.

2015-05-13c 13

I also used some wood veneers and word stickers from the PL kit.

2015-05-1a3 13

I love to mix my kits, and this time I grabbed a Pinkfresh studio wood veneer piece I had left from March’s embellishment kit. I added some Amy Tan heart epoxy stickers to it, love how that turned out-

Some more wood veneers-

And a process video that shows exactly how I created this layout-

Thanks for visiting and have a lovely day!

Baby, we are so in LOVE with you| Kim Watson

Hello crafty friends…I hope you are enjoying your Saturday so far?

I have one last page to share using my March 2015 kit. I thought I’d try scrapping some old photos. Sometimes it is great to use photos out of chronological sequence, it not only adds freshness to my albums but it means there will thankfully be a few more modern looking pages of the early years in my sons life. The ones in there currently were some of the first scrapbook pages I ever did…& if I am truly honest, as much as I love the photos, the pages themselves are just horrible hahaha!

Baby, we are so in LOVE with you by Kim Watson

@KimWatson @HipKitClub @crate_paper #hipkitclub #March2015 #12x12 #layout #scrapbooking Kim Watson+So in love with you+HK04Having so many paper strips left over from my March kit, sparked the idea of creating a cluster of banners & pennants in the top left corner. It is dimensional & great to look at as well as a super way to use paper off-cuts. NOTE: the resin flower & flair are from my older stash & not included in the kit.
Kim Watson+So in love with you+HK02Mixing color and black & white photos on a page, is a lovely way to add visual interest. I can’t believe how little my baby boy was…AND how long my hair was. Looking back, I remember these days being as hard, especially having a reflux baby in the house. They hold a special place in my heart because the extra time we spent caring for him through his distress, created a special bond between us.
Kim Watson+So in love with you+HK03The Minds Eye Stickers sheets & Elle’s Studio wood veneer, make layering a cinch. I love how the soft colors against the gorgeous woodgrain paper, really compliment the black & white photo perfectly.
Kim Watson+So in love with you+HK05Lastly the title. When looking through the embellishments in this kit, the large chipboard word LOVE, really stood out. I decided it would best be used as a long conversational title. So teamed up with sticker alphas, printed chipboard alphas & chipboard die cuts this was the result. Stitching, and a scattering of hearts finish it off nicely.

Thanks so much for joining me this afternoon, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your Saturday! I am off to make party decor for an 11year old Rainbow party…so wish me luck.

Breathe | Alex

Hi everyone! Alex here. I just received my May kits (eeeeeek!!!), so this will be my last layout using the gorgeous April kits. I’ve had so much fun playing with them. This layout is no exception.

Alex Gadji - Breathe

The April papers are amazing! The colors, the patterns… Everything is so perfectly coordinated. I mean, you can’t go wrong mixing them!

Alex Gadji - Breathe closeup1

I had a really rough day when this photo was taken. I couldn’t wait to put kids to sleep and go out for a run. It is not something I often do and I keep forgetting how good it feels, how much it helps. Afterwards, I could finally breathe again.

Alex Gadji - Breathe closeup2

I used the feather from the epoxy stickers pack included in the April embellishment kit as a exclamation mark. It’s in the details, right? 🙂

Alex Gadji - Breathe closeup3

Once I was finished with my design, I realized that I was missing small touches of black. I wanted to add something to balance the black in my photo and title. Mist splatters are perfect for that purpose. I often end up covering photos and elements I don’t want to get stained, so I can add splatters to the right places 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you next Friday!

Meet Me in the Sunshine | Patricia Roebuck

To see my old, 20-year old cat so comfy and relaxed, enjoying the warm sun after so much rain is a welcome sight.  Not only is he still enjoying life, but getting out on the screened area and enjoying the weather.

I used the April Kits for this layout, all except the Pocket Page Kit.  I really used scraps of pattern paper for this.  Anything goes type creation using my punches and leaf die plate.

@hipkitclub #hipkitclub @paroe #scrapbooking

No little piece of paper was safe.  I used leftover negative and positive leaf die cuts, and altered the embellishments.  For the Heidi Swapp flags, I cut the fabric banners off!  For the watercolor sheets, I cut another banner and added watercolor to it from the Color Kit.

@hipkitclub #hipkitclub @paroe #scrapbooking

I typed my journaling on the pink pattern paper on the far left and stitched into place.

@hipkitclub #hipkitclub @paroe #scrapbooking

Thank you so much for letting me share!

Scrap it ‘Grid Style’ | Kim Watson

Happy Saturday friends!

I hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you might be on this pretty afternoon.

After the rush of the NSD crop last weekend, I felt inspired to try something a little out of my comfort zone. I thought I’d create a page, ‘Grid-Style’. I find scrapping using this technique is a great way to work in straight lines, with an overall linear page layout, as well as incorporate the beauty of the principle of thirds 😀

This page was put together using more gorgeous products from the March 2015 kit…I just can’t seem to get enough of it hehe!

Hello Life by Kim Watson

@KimWatson @HipKitClub @crate_paper @

I created this BONUS sketch, based on my page design, for you to use:

@KimWatson @HipKitClub #sketch #12x12

Kim Watson+Hello Life+HKC03

Cutting patterned paper into 2.4″ x 2.4″ squares meant I was able to use many of the paper pieces left over from my other completed layouts. This gave me four rows to play with. Some of the squares were left plain & others decorated with clusters of embellishments for interest.
Kim Watson+Hello Life+HKC04The title was positioned a third of the up the page, on the third square along for perfect balance. Combining a wood veneer title with alpha stickers creates lovely interest as well as texture. Kim Watson+Hello Life+HKC05Please excuse the wonky journaling LOL, I typed straight onto the label & it shifted half way though. Fussy cut flowers from the MME paper add a little something special to the journal tag.
Kim Watson+Hello Life+HKC06

The crate chipboard frames are so cool with the hints of gold foil…perfect for a little photo frame.  Again, fussy cut flowers & small accents clusters help create visual triangles & color balance. I hope you have found this inspiring. Remember to post your work in the Members Forum on Facebook, for us to see.

This kit is filled with wonderful colors, & patterned papers!  If you didn’t get a chance to pick up an April or May Hip Kits, then make sure you stop by the Hip Kit online store & grab one while stocks last!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

April Kit Cards | Alex

Hi there! Alex here with three little cards made with the gorgeous April kits.

Alex Gadji - {heart} you

Alex Gadji - {heart} you closeup1

I have used the main, the embellishment and the cardstock kit for all three cards. I really love to use a piece of vellum on my cards. It can make a simple design so much more interesting…

These golden Amy Tangerine Rise & Shine phrase stickers are amazing and perfect for cards!

Another product perfect for cards is the Webster’s Pages Dream in Color What a Day paper. The tiny squares with their mixed patterns, colors and lovely sentiments are beautiful just the way they are. There is no need to add much.

You are the Best Happy with Wendy

Wendy here this morning with one more page from the April kit.  I am so excited to start working on the May kit, they are all so beautiful!

You are the Best Happy

This page started with all of the extras I had lying on my table from scrapping with the April kit.  I loved that chevron paper so I started there, using it as a big pop of color on the grid paper.  Sticking with the grid inspiration I used a frame to highlight a die-cut piece and then a few embellishments finished up my grid.  When I was making my title I didn’t have the word I wanted on the Amy Tangerine paper, so I cut out the letters instead so that I was able to write exactly what I wanted.

You are the Best Happy-1You are the Best Happy-2

I’m hard at work catching up on my PL so I will be back next week to share some weeks with you using the new May kit!
