Butterflies everywhere! with Wendy

Good Morning and welcome to the Hip Kit Club blog!  Wendy here today to share a few layouts inspired by the fun cut files created by Kim Watson.  As soon as I received my March kit I had to play with that fun colorful paper in our kits.

Be Free

I cut the butterflies out of the darker paper to stand out and then I went back and cut them again with the colorful paper.  I took pieces of the colorful paper and adhered them to my butterflies leaving some white space on parts of the wings.

Be Free-3

I added in some fun pieces to my page beginning with the wooden Remember to draw attention to my photos.  The black piece added that pop of color which linked the butterfly cutout, the embellishment, and the title.

Be Free-4

Some journaling and little bits and pieces finished the page.

My next page came from my love of multi-tasking…  I had that beautiful butterfly cut left from removing the insides and it looked so nice on the wooden paper, so I created!

March 2016

I loved the hello March card paired with the butterflies and the Basic Grey flowers (from the Embellishment add-on) which added the fun color to the page.

March 2016-2

I printed out a few small pictures from March and scattered them throughout the page to match the free feeling of the butterflies.

March 2016-4

I added in a few pieces cut from the 6×6 PinkFresh Studio paper pads and the final touch was the bold green Thickers.

March 2016-3

Thanks for joining me today, I’ll see you next week with more fun with the March kits.

Let’s Go Together with Wendy

Good morning and welcome to the weekend!  Wendy here today to share the last bit of my February inspiration.

Let's Go Together

I started this page with the February Color Add-on, I smoothed a fine coating of the texture paste over my white cardstock and let it dry (I loved that the paper didn’t buckle at all with this medium).  After assembling my “photo block” I decided while I loved the yellow it needed a little more interest to the page, so I went back and added some texture using the stencil included in the color add-on where it would show around my photo block.

Let's Go Together-4

Since many of the pieces I added to my page were rectangular in shape I added in a few circular items to add interest and variation.  I also mixed in a few wooden/cork items for more texture.

Let's Go Together-3

And one more peek at some of the fun items I have included using the Main kit and the Project Life cards from the Project Life Add-on.

Let's Go Together-2

I love the Project Life cards each month and the Amy Tangerine sticker book was dying to be used, so I also worked on catching up with my Project Life this week.  Although these weeks happened in December, the fun colors worked well with all of our happenings in those weeks.

Hello First Snow with Wendy

Hello 2016 us Hello 2016 us-2 Hello 2016 us-3 Hello 2016 us-4

I’m finally back!  Hi everyone, Wendy here today.  We just made the move from sunny FL to snowy KY and it has been quite an adjustment.  For starters, we haven’t had internet for a month and now that we have it my good computer is being fixed because a certain little boy worked on it! 😦 Other than that our moments have been really good here and today’s layout documents the kids first moments in the snow.

Hooray First Snow

I wanted to give this paper by Pink Paislee found in the February Main kit a try.  To work with the paper, I began by rotating the paper until I felt the “mountains” led into my picture, almost like the picture was at the top similar to our surroundings here in our new home.  Once I had the paper in the position that I liked I began layering a few items.  I chose the hot pink heart 3×4 card from the February Project Life kit first to show how excited they were and to echo the hot pink “mountains”.

Hooray First Snow-5

Once I had my “photo block” I began to add in my title with the different fonts included in the Project Life kit and the Main kits.  I also used one of the wood veneers that some had included in their kits to echo the wood grain on my paper.

Hooray First Snow-2

I added in a few more of the wood veneers and a few embellishments to dress up the page and some sprinkling of enamel dots to make a snow feeling and the layout was complete!

Hooray First Snow-3

Thanks for joining me today, I will be back next week with some more pages from the February kits.

Happy Memories with Wendy

Welcome to another Friday morning, Wendy here today with more inspiration from the January Hip Kits.  I began this page by cutting the white word page into a 6×6 piece and combining the green piece with it.  I chose a picture that went well with these pieces and then began to layer more elements.

Happy Memories

The main building block of my page was somewhat boring as it was so blocky, but by adding pieces above and below my block I was able to stretch the design and add interest through many different shapes/texture/colors.

Happy Memories-2

Some more bits and pieces to dress up my layout and add some interest.

Happy Memories-3

And a look at the top of the page, again carrying the rub-ons, hearts, and colors throughout the page for a cohesive design.

Happy Memories-4

Thanks for joining me today, see you all next week!

Blissful Dream and a PL spread with Wendy

Welcome to another Friday, Wendy here today to share some inspiration with my new January kit.  I absolutely adore these colors and patterns, and those die-cut words are my fav!

Blissful Dream

This page began with the December cut file by Ashley Horton (I am in the process of moving so I didn’t get a chance to get into the January cuts yet) and the fun colored paper with all of the triangles.  I knew that my scrapping style wasn’t going to be able to work with the 12×12 sheet of the bold design, but I was easily able to imitate it using a smaller design area!

Blissful Dream-2

As always, I constructed my “photo block” off the page consisting of my picture, a PL card, and a tag.  I embellished my block to my heart’s content and then I added it to my colorful heart.

Blissful Dream-1

A few pieces to pull your eyes through the whole page added the finishing touches.

Blissful Dream-3

I also have a Project Life spread to share using the November kit.

Beautiful Moments with Wendy

Happy New Year to everyone!  I pray that this year your dreams will be fulfilled and you will experience many beautiful moments!  Wendy here today to share a beautiful moment with my teenage daughter.  So often we give into the view that the teen years are horrible, and while there are moments of frustration, they can be good years too.

Beautiful Moments

I started this layout with my photo and the colorful block piece (found in the Embellishment kit) because even though I might not always get my daughter, I know that we both together create beautiful splashes of color which can be combined to create a beautiful canvas of moments.

Beautiful Moments-4

I brought in as many floral pieces and pretty pieces I could find, layering and popping some up to form a page worthy of this picture.

Beautiful Moments-3

The gold thickers layered on top of the bold moments chipboard piece created my title and added the final touch of sparkle. (Both included in the Main kit)

Beautiful Moments-2

Thanks so much for joining me today, now go capture the first beautiful moment of 2016!

Shine Bright with Wendy

It is so nice to see you here today at the Hip Kit Club blog; I pray your December is full of fun and peace!  Wendy here today with a process video of this Shiny layout I created with the December kits.

Shine Bright

I was so excited to get the Shimmerz paints in the color kit, I’ve never played with them before and they are awesome (even for a somewhat challenged mixed media person).

Here is a process video to see how I created this layout, I hope you enjoy!

And one more look at some of the details of the layout.

Silent Night with Wendy

Wendy here today to share some inspiration with the November kits and the December Daily kit.  Don’t they just put you in a rejoicing mood?

In my layouts today, I began with the mood board where I was caught by the warm wood piece, the tree picture, and the collage of square pieces, and of course pops of pink/red!

Nov Mood Board

I have really been drawn to the PinkFresh Studio papers, it has been a fun challenge to work with the papers.  In all of my layouts I’ve created with this kit I’ve tried to find papers that I can nestle my pictures into and allow the background to embrace my photo.

Silent Night

On this page I chose to mat it on the beautiful teal piece designed by DT member Kim Watson to give a calm feel to it with a few pops fo red for impact.

Silent Night-3

I used the wreath cutfile to create the wooden leaves that I used to add some warmth to the page with.

Silent Night-4

I am loving the cute little animals that were apart of the die-cut pack from PinkFresh Studio!

Silent Night-2

I also created another page, that had nothing to do with Christmas but instead celebrated the 16 years my husband and I have been married and our very first night away without kids!

Celebrate Us 2015

I used the same wreath cutfile as my other layout, but this time I cut it out of vellum for a light airy feel that didn’t detract from my picture.  I chose bold red papers and embellishments to add pop to my page and unite the page with all the different elements I used.

Celebrate Us 2015-1

I hid the do not open circle under my penguin as the sentiment didn’t work for my page, but the color and shape was perfect for my grouping, a little sneaky, huh?

Celebrate Us 2015-2

Thanks so much for joining me, I will see you next week with some more Christmas fun!

Together Merry Christmas with Wendy

Welcome to Friday morning here on the Hip Kit blog with Wendy!  I have quite a few things to share with you today, my first layout from the November kits, some catch up with my Project Life, and a process video!  So let’s get started 🙂

Together Merry Christmas

Here is the process video so you can watch/hear my thoughts on how this layout came together.

I created this layout with lots of PinkFresh goodies found in the November Main kit.  Lots of embellishing with the gorgeous November Embellishment add-on.  My title came from the cut files designed by Kim Watson.  Yum!

Now on to the everyday matters!  For some reason, I managed to get almost 2 months behind in my Project Life, so I spent some time this past weekend catching up.  I am so thankful for the discovery of the Collect app as each picture already has a little journaling about the event/day making it so easy to catch up!

Love Story with Wendy

Welcome back!  Wendy here today to share another layout I created with the October kits.  This layout began with the stencils and watercolor pencils included in the Color Kit.  I don’t normally play with the color kit, but I couldn’t resist playing with these stencils.

Love Story

I began this page by painting aqua through the plus sign stencil.  I was thinking diamonds and sparkling to go with this picture, so I covered the plus signs with some shimmery Stickles I had in my stash.

Love Story-2

I again created an embellishment cluster to go with my picture next.

Love Story-3

I used a Project Life card inside of my frame and a few more of the vellum pieces I had cut for my last page.

Love Story-4

Thanks for joining me today, have a great day!
