Envelope Pockets & DIY Embellishments

Hello Hip Kits fans! It’s Zinia here to my last project using the February 2017 Hip Kits. I had so much fun using these kits and I created a bunch of different projects throughout the month but I’m really excited to start playing with the March kits as soon as possible.

This layout was pretty hard for me. My first couple of ideas didn’t really work out so it took some time and experimentation to get here. If you are curious about the whole process, you can watch the process video bellow:

I really wanted to use my envelope punch board to create some pockets and fill them with the beautiful Oh my Heart cut apart specialty paper that came in the Paper Ad-on Kit. I measured the cut apart pieces I wanted to use and I created envelops in the closest size. Then I cut off the top flap and turned them into pockets.

The embellishing part was much easier. I went for my go-to embellishment from this month’s kit, the butterflies. I also used a few florals from the Chasing Dreams sticker sheet that came in the Embellishment kit.

I also used the Color Kit to create some DIY embellishments. I mixed the AcriTonez with some heavy gel, spread them through the stencil and fussy cut them to create some lovely geometric hearts.

(During the photoshoot, my little assistant did a thorough check to make sure everything was good)

Before I go, I want to show you some more pages from my traveler’s notebook minibook for February.

In some spreads I tried to keep things very minimalistic. When there was an item I really loved, I didn’t want to stuff it on a busy page. I preferred using it on a simple spread so that it’s on the spotlight.

I really tried to implement as much stamping as possible. I really enjoy playing around with stamps in my traveler’s notebooks and this one is not exception. I absolutely adore the Oh my Heart stamp set that came in the Project Life kit.

I also used some interactive elements like this file folder to “hide” a goofy photo of my boyfriend and his valentine’s date.

When I’m working in my traveler’s notebook I always try to use the products that I wouldn’t normally use in my scrapbooking.  For example I don’t often use washi tape and tags on my 12×12 pages, so I made sure to include them in my TN and use them up in my lovely notebook spreads.

So these are my projects for today. I really hope you enjoyed them and you got inspired to create something with your February Hip Kits. Make sure to stop by the HKC Facebook page and the HKC Member Forum for even more inspiration.

Until next time, happy scrapping🙂

Fasching 2017| Irit Landgraf

Hi! Irit here with a new project I created using the gorgeous February 2017 kits. I used some mixed media to create a little sky scene on my layout. Here’s the finished page-

I used some of the patterned papers in the main kit to create my clouds, and added some texture with paint and sewing. The Shimmerz paint that comes in the color kit is perfect for scrapbook layouts, as it has a matte finish. Other media like oil pastels, paint, pen or pencil, can easily be layered on top. My finishing touches were puffy stickers from the Paige Evans Oh My Heart collection and some gold accents by PinkFresh Studio.

Don’t forget to watch the video tutorial and see how this came together-

Thanks for visiting and have a great Sunday!

Meet Nae

Hey guys and thank you so much for welcoming me to the beautiful Hip Kit Club. I am so excited to be designing for you and creating inspiration using some truly beautiful kits. I have always loved and admired Hip Kits all the way down here in Australia, I am so thankful that now I am fortunate enough to be able to play with these adorable kits and create some stunning layouts for you..

I have never had a Hip Kit ever and I am so excited to jump into the March kits.. While I am waiting in anticipation (much like the rest of you), I thought I would come onto the blog and say a little hello. Some of you may know me from my youtube channel, Heynaedaily. Some of you may be thinking “Who is this crazy pink haired lady?”, well, jump down below and settle in with a nice cup of tea..

My name is Renae Bowell and if you didn’t notice from above, I am from the beautiful Australia. I am 31 and living on the beautiful Gold Coast with my lovely husband Josh and our two fur kitties, Mini and Pipa. When I can get a decent photo of any of these three, I will scrapbook them but with one male and two un-photogenic cats, most of my layouts are selfies of me. Scrapbooking for me is of course a documentation of memories and events, but it is probably more so a creative outlet for me. It is an escape from the real world where I can make pretty pictures even more beautiful.

My creative style is definitely Girly Glam. Yes, I know what you are thinking, that may not be an actual style, but it is the best way for me to describe my layouts to you. I use a lot of light colours, usually always white card stock backgrounds, layers of pink, mint green and of course accents of gold. I also really enjoy using textiles like tulle, ribbons, lace and trims to add soft layers and dimensions to my pages. I am by no means a mixed media kind of girl. I just don’t like unpredictable ink splatters or even stamping. Believe me, I have tried, but it just never looks as good as it does on others amazing layouts.

If you would like to know a little bit more about me, I have created a little face to face video for you where you can listen to my giggles and my accent while you finish off those last few sips of tea. I hope you all enjoyed this little “get to know you” post. I cant wait to start creating for you all. In the mean time, I will be back next week with a scrap room tour. It has been a long time since I have done a scrap room tour and I am running around now trying to clean it up and have it all lovely for you next week.

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking me out girlies,

Love you all,

Nae xoxo

Nobody Photobombs Me! | Irit Landgraf

Hi! Irit here with a new layout I created using the gorgeous February kits. I used lots of the goodies from Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection.

Here’s my layout-

I have created a bunch of embellishment clusters before hand, so making this project took no time at all.

Do what you Love | Jana McCarthy

Hi everyone, Jana here with a new Layout for you. I got my February Kits last week and i took a picture and i scrapped it with the January Kits… because, why not?!
I went a bit Element crazy here and i added so many things to my page…

I used a lot of the exclusive DieCuts and Printables here. Kim Watson made an awesome Job, again! Love how everything worked so well together. I colored the Heart from the WoodVeneer Piece with the Texture Paste from Heidi Swapp (included in the Color AddOn Kit)

I love the black Vellum Hearts. They gives a perfect little touch!

The Picture is a bit small in that massive Element Cluster, i know! But i totally love it!
Are your scrapping pictures from your HappyMail or your Kits?

I had so much fun creating this Layout and i can´t wait to get my first page with the new Kits done! Everything i waiting on my table… eeek!

Here is my process Video for you to watch!

DIY Traveler’s Notebook Insert | Irit Landgraf

Hi and happy valentine’s day! Irit here and today I have something fun and different to share with you! I used my beautiful January 2017 kits to create my own Traveler’s Notebook insert. Here’s my finished project-

I used my favorite paper from the main kit as my cover, and added a layer of vellum from the cardstock kit for a softer look.

For the pages in my insert I used different patterned paper. Some the full size of my notebook and some cut down. I like the variety of different sizes.

For my embellishments I used the pretty goodies from the January kits. This is such a great way of using those bits and pieces! Since there are so many die cuts and stickers in the kits, I find it easier to keep my color schemes simple, with one or two main colors per spread. This way my choices are narrowed down and my process is faster. Here’s a spread with a blue and green colors scheme.

Here’s a slideshow with some more images of my insert. And of course, as always, I created a video tutorial showing how this came together, just scroll down to see it.

Like What?! Colorful Layout | Jessica Fabiano

Yeeeah so you know how it is, sometimes there’s something you experience or realize – or hear, or do, or say, or…and all you have left to say is: Like what?! Geez! Too long a story, anyway, let’s get back to the layout. (There’s also a process video below).

I am sure some of you know how I work by now. I need colors. Colors make me smile- there’s barely a pastel layout that I made that I truly truly love, colors just speak to my heart. But I don’t want to neglect the pretty papers that we got, so I decided to use a lot more patterned paper than I usually do, that’s why I punched out some patterns with a circle-punch and glued them down randomly. Did you see the turquoise roses? I made them using the Heidi Swapp teal metallic paste that’s included in the color kit. I mixed the paste with turquoise acrylics and went over a rose-stencil using a palette knife – then I cut it out and yay! My own rose-ephemera!

I also scribbled in some gelato circles – really messily and not really caring about the look; I find that that’s the kind of look I want. Did you see? I colored in the fabric thickers from the embellishment kit! Careful, random owl-eyes in the next picture. (O_O).

We know details have a lot of power! I used the tiny washi strips almost on top of each other or next to each other to enhance their effect! Love those, they were a lot of fun to use. I also used some lime and bubble gum pink colored homemade mists – my newest passion: DIY mists

Have a look at my process video to watch how I created this layout:

And here’s a list of the products I used:

  • “Frolic” paper strip, exclusively designed by Kimberly (main kit)
  • Project Life foiled frames (main kit)
  • Vellum heart stickers exclusively designed by Kim (embellishment kit)
  • DIY Fabric Thickers (Embellishment kit)
  • Heidi Swapp Structure Paste (Color Kit)
  • Colored Cardstock (Cardstock Kit)

Thanks for joining me today,

Sweet Vienna | Irit Landgraf

Hi! Irit here with a new project using the lovely Hip Kit Club January 2017 kits. Today I’m using a large photo on my layout. This is a great way to showcase a special photo, and make your albums more varied and interesting. Here’s my layout-

I took this lovely photo on a recent trip to Vienna. The colors worked so well with the items in the kits, especially the color scheme of Pink Paislee’s Moonstruck collection.

I created my custom title using a die cut word, cork and puffy stickers right on my photo.

The cards in the PL style kit are perfect for adding journaling also on 12×12 layouts.

Watch the video tutorial I created to see how this layout came together!

Thanks for visiting and I wish you a lovely day!

Follow Your Dreams | Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone, happy weekend!

It’s Tarrah McLean back with you and this week I am sharing a new scrapbook layout I created using the stunning January 2017 Main and Add-On kits!

As soon as I saw those amazing One Canoe Two rub-on butterflies from the Hazelwood collection…I knew exactly what design I wanted to go with this week! I used up a whole sheet of the butterfly rub-ons, rubbing them all onto white cardstock first and then individually fussy cutting them all out! I started placing them inside my heart at first but then I quickly decided I liked it better with the butterflies following the heart shape instead. I added a couple of the feathers from the Pink Paislee Moonstruck ephemera pack also.

Watch my process video below to see how my layout came together….

I machine stitched around the heart shape, making sure to go through the butterflies at the same time. I then curled up the wings of the butterflies for dimension.

The Hip Kit Club exclusive wood veneer title ‘Follow Your Dreams’ was perfect for this layout of my niece out in the garden just wandering around and exploring. I also added the little ‘Wander More’ puffy sticker from the Pink Paislee Moonstruck collection as it was so fitting to this layout! A few extra small embellishments finished off my layout…I wanted to keep most of the focus on the photo and the pretty butterfly heart!

I hope you have had a chance to create with your January 2017 kits? If you haven’t yet, why not give this idea a try? I would love to see what you create! Tag me @tarrahm on Instagram when you share your creations and I will be sure to leave you some love!

Thank you so much for stopping by the Hip Kit Club blog today!

Happy creating!

Tarrah x
